2000s Euros for my Centurion Helldrive tri bike. Mr. IW paid more than I did, but he went for an upgrade and got Ultegra fitted instead of Shimano 105 like me, also opted for Spinergy wheels, so that put the cost up quite a bit more than mine. Money well spent though, the bikes were custom-built to fit us.
My indulgence is a £2,000 plus Airborne titanium MTB. Rides like a dream and looks the dogs danglies but I still want my old Vitus back (shameless plug for Vitus Duralinox thread)
Spent £1,900 on a Specialized M4 Stumpjumper on 02, and just bought a WSD TREK 1500 for £1k...although now i'm not sure if i'm happy with 650 wheels - oops ;-)
pinarello dogma frame and forks, record 10 spd, campag bora wheels, itmbars, stem, seatpost all carbon price, could not post incase mrs slainte sees it..;-)
Guinevere, they are very nippy you are right, but for longer rides 100km+ you have to pedal more to keep up with the others, which is harder work I think, or perhaps that's just me lol!
I've had positive reports. Apart from carbon wheels are not good for riding on pot holed routes, so if I know a route is particularly bad I'll change them to a different set.
I'm a little person too so maybe they do suit females with light weight, but I'm no expert on knowing if that's true!
I don't intend to do too many very long rides as I'm only interested, at the moment, in sprint/olympic distance tri's.

£1500 on a TT bike last month:
Fort Aero Frame
TCR Carbon Aero Forks
Campag Centaur
Campag Zondas (couldn't afford any fancier wheels! Hoping to change 'em next season!)
Still sitting in the garage! Can't wait to take her out!
Anyway, I bought an Airborne Valkyrie after riding a Vitus for years. I love my Airborne!!!!!
I've got em on my Cannondale r500. They're nippy
The link is a picture of a bike like mine. The only difference is my gears are on the brakes and I've got 650 carbon fibre race wheels.
