why aren't you going for a curry tomorrow anyway? you could redeem yourself by downing three spoonfulls of neat lime pickle, and a meat vindaloo with extra chillis
Not staying at La Santa, but will be going back there on the Sunday evening for the party, unless we get stuck in the Spanking Monkey pub in Puerta del Carmen.
Seems a lot of trouble to go to for a tan, when one can be had in 15 minutes in Dewsbury whilst standing still. However- good luck with it, and Richard I never congtratulated you on the fantastic run you did as a rhino at London, not a feat I would wish to emulate.
Thanks Monique, not a feat i'll be emulating in a hurry either.
gtir, where are you staying? La Santa or P d Carmen? Keep an eye out for us, there are about eight of us wearing red with two gold hoops from Serpentine.
For the first time ever I actually went for an early morning swim in the Serpentine in Hyde park today. It was much cleaner than you'd expect and great for open water practice. Be back in there Friday morning.
Thanks JLK. Looking forward to it now, speaking of saline what do you think of taking salt tablets if its hot? I've never used them as being a bit of a lightweight I don't sweat buckets, but if the temperature gets up they might be worth considering.
On the subject of salt tablets, wher can you get themin the UK as I have asked numerous chemists and onlyhad srange looks in response.
At last year's MDS they were invaluable and had an alomst immediate reaction. I remeber feeling really dizzy coming in t a check pint and got some salt tablets off the medics. Within a couple of minutes my head had clearedand I felt ready to go.
I have some sodium capsules which seem to do the trick as a preventative measure, but not as a quick fix if all else has failed
Caspar, a guy from my club who did Zurich with me last year had some and gave me some for the race but I forgot to pick them up in transition! I'll email him now and find out where he got them and let you know.
No luck Caspar, he uses Thermotabs from the States which apparently aren't available outside the US even in Canada. Done a bit of googling and have drawn a blank. Why are they so difficult to get hold of, surely they aren't illegal or dangerous are they?

......that's a bit worrying
OK she wanted to break 3.30, but there's a time and a place for everything
Hadn't really thought about it. I'll think about now...........
........ponder not really diet friendly is it?
........still pondering
Doh.
This time next week i'll be packing the sun cream.
Gulp.
Have I trained enough? What will the weather be like? Will my bike fall apart? Will anyone notice if I drown? Am I tapering too much? Or too little?
Can't wait :-)
Give my regards to the lovely Green Team in La Santa. So multitalented they are.
The wind is a big factor in that race. When i did it we had all the 40's. 40mph wind and 40c heat.
Felt fine after 2 bags of saline!!

Most of the pro's have it once they finish.
Worth asking.
I know you get a free massage though i was'nt awake for most of that even though it hurt like hell for the parts i was awake for.
Go easy on the bike as it all happens in the run. Good luck.
