mapmyrun uses the google gmap as it engine. But I think its a better overall package. I also used it to check my nike plus readings, which can be very suspect.
Have been using Runningahead.com which is an excellant site.
Shows your mileage on a easy to use system, stores your runs, maps your progress with graphs, gives you a calendar breakdown of your runs, gives you calorie burn and mileage per minute, have been using this site for over a year and use it regularly without any problems
Make search any travel package that includes a hotel for any date in your city. Resulting hotels list screen contains "Map of all hotels on this page" link. The map has "Measure distance" feature, select "Measure distance" and drag mouse on the map, Path and distance will be displayed.
It's the best mapping measure distance tool that you can find in Internet. I use it for measuring walking distance in my trips too.
If you need to run off-road, and want OS mapping for footpaths and bridleways, then bikehike.co.uk does the job pretty well. Also has a profile feature and a "follow road" feature which saves loads of time for mapping road runs.

The best mapping with measure feature is Yahoo! Travel - Vacation Packages travel map.

I highly recommend this tool for all !
Google Maps my maps measurement tool is very primitive - no continuous measuring, only via separate clicking.
Try http://vacations.travel.yahoo.net/yahoo/CPSearch?DD=YAHOO mapping after searching any package with hotel in your destination (it's free too) and you will see different between really professional design and my maps.
www.mapquest.com - this site is very simple to use.
www.runningmap.com - also simple but i think this is a bit more accurate.
