Has anyone heard anything from the clowns who organized this race. I've now sent 3 cheques in the past 11 months, My brother in law sent a cheque 8 months ago and they still havent been cashed.
Looked at the web site yesterday and it had vanished!
Not good.
I know they sub'd the race organization out to a 3rd party in a bid to make it better - what a mistake.
Hi all - I phoned the organiser this morning - the number published is for the local dental surgery - but the message is that everything is OK. If the cheque has been cashed you're in. They will be sending out numbers "nearer the time".
That's all very well, but for those of us who are doing the race as part of a family holiday, I would appreciate having my number sooner rather than later - then it's my fault if I lose it.
Fit40, I brought some off road shoes for last year, but they took longer than expected to break in, so just ran in my normal trainers. If it stays dry, you'll be fine!
i have entered the 10k race as my first ever (started running in march, ran a race for life start of june). have just read the description of the race and getting a bit scared!!!! at the moment i run round a forest which has 'undulations' but dont think even that will be enough preparation for 'mountain roads, steep inclines, very rough terrain and shoulder high bracken'!!
i'm no longer concerned about getting a good time, just about my own survival!!
should i expect to have to add on a third of my usual time over 10k on the flat?
Note: the reason i am running both this and the anglesey 10k for my first two races is merely because i live close by and not because i am insane (like the rest of you!) ;-)
Riga. Just run as you feel and enjoy the countryside. Ignore timings, as there are few markers anyway, and they're confusing at best. I didn't see any bracken last year BTW, and am ignoring your request to clarify about undulations.
Riga, I shouldn't worry about your time on this one. As it's your first race you will get a PB, and because it's tougher than most 10k's you will no doubt go on to smash your PB and boost your confidence to keep on racing, then before you know it you will be insane like the rest of us, and will no doubt return next year for the full run. Don't worry about the undulations, the last 50 yards are flat!
has anyone received anything from the organisers yet? I entered in April and haven't heard a thing despite emails asking if they have received my entry form. My cheque hasn't cleared either.
Should be one for me to remember at least, even if only for coming last! ;-)
Lets just hope my entry wasn't too late and i can actually run! Although from what you guys have said....i'm unlikely to get any notification of my entry before 2020!!
Tumps, heard nothing officially yet although I did get an e mail confirming I was in about a month ago. We used to send our entries to Gwynedd, they now go to Shropshire if I recall correctly...maybe that has something to do with the late confirmations this year.
If anybody is interested I have to cancel the most fantastic accommodation in the area, as I am now unable to race due to injury, I have stayed there in previous years and book it a year in advance its that good, food is out of this world, I’ve paid the deposit but if anybody wish’s to take it over I will happily pass on the details to you.
Just reporting that we received our race packs today in the post.
I've got number 108 for the main race, my daughter has got number 3001 for the 5k fun run - which shows that we must have been a bit on the organised side!
The packs include championchips for both of us, an information sheet, train tickets, and even a list of accommodation in the locality. Not bad eh?
Find the Station. There is an obvious (the obvious) grass field behind it. And a "jolly" big marquee. There is likely to be a little clue, like the 6 foot board that says REGISTRATION or something.
The hardest thing to remember on the day is the start time for your race. I nearly missed mine!
Haven't got any serious long runs in for some weeks, though i did manage 13 miles in the heat last Sunday and it hurt. Oh well i shall look forward again to that super finish on the playing field with the cheering crowd and a few pints later on.
I'm coming down this year again using the main race as prep for berlin marathon would be good if i could meet some of you this year will be going down on the friday

And don't forget to stay for the party.
LOL about the last 50 yards!

Tywyn's not that big.

I'm getting nervous.
