Going back a bit, I like the story of Glenn Roeder being knocked unconscious in a building society. When he came round he said "Where am I", "In the Nationwide" came the reply, "Crikey!" said he, "is it May already".
Can't remember where I heard that (hope I didn't read it on this thread).
Piglet. Admitted at last; now I know the welly's a goner. Thanks for getting my piccies back but it's a doubtful benefit in some cases-pigs excepted of course. I will consider whether the tip's worth a pardon. Just because it's Sunday doesn't mean I have t be any less vindictive than usual.
Helen. If you are always running behind people how can you be looking up their noses? Ever seen anything interesting up there? JJ
Phew... I'm glad there's the possiblity of a reprieve on the welly front! I'll try to behave myself for a while (No promises.)
About my leg - it's ok, I think - wrapped up in tubigrip and travelling by crutch. It's a torn muscle, apparently, but I'll go along to the physio tomorrow/Tuesday to get it checked over. Thank you for asking
Chimp - I'm already booked in for the half. Registered online last month An old pal of mine says he's going to run a half (he's just taking up running) and I said I'd run it with him. He nominated Blackpool.
Did you get hurt today? Liked your friends and their site, but must state that British pigs must be different from US pigs. We have wild boars, but they have NASTY dispositions. Maybe, I just never take the time to get to know them.
The hospital says I tore a muscle in my leg just after getting out of the car en route to my long run. Bit of a bummer. Now on crutches, but hopefully not for long. Will have to get cross training in the swimming pool!
Hey, those wild boar pals of mine have really savage dispositions. They're just pretending to be cute and cuddly
Hi.Jim C. We've not been introduced but I've a feeling I've seen you before. I'm the wrinkly that started this thread off months ago as the Over 60s but the scopes been extended to include any 'mature' person who needs...well anything really. Surreal to sublime. You're welcome any time. JJ
Hmmm... well, Benz, you *could* do the marathon, but it's not very long after London. Only a couple of months. After allowing 2 or 3 weeks to begin to get over London, you'd probably be left with only 6 weeks or so before you were due to start another taper. I think it's a tall order, although it can be done.
On the other hand... if you go for the half, you needn't be anxious in the build up to it. If you just get back into steady training post FLM, and keep up some long weekend runs, you'll be in tip top condition for it.
I vote for the half (Besides, don't forget the rotten bananas!)
I need to know whoever decides what about Blackpool. I like pink peppermint rock and whoever goes to Blackpool will be expected to acknowledge my seniority and come back bearing gifts. Includes you Benz I'm afraid.
Piglet. Wadd'ya mean 'erstwhile' leader. I thought you were looking for some sort of ....er..... rapprochement....after the welly incident. Careful young pig or you could end up crutchless. JJ
Just finished the second Fullers 1845 of the evening, well it's better than Horlicks, and now off to bed for a read and some shuteye. 6.00am start tomorrow for a short recovery run and the washing up. 'night everyone. JJ
Sorry that you hurt yourself - sounds like a freak accident. Thanks for the introduction - you have class. Did JJ give up the leadership or was he supplanted?
JJ - It's a pleasure meeting you. This is the first week that I've posted, but I may have hit one of the other threads. Still trying to find my way around the neighborhood.
All - Thanks for the kind words of condolence. It's amazing how routine these flights are until an accident happens. My thoughts are with their families.
My race yesterday went well. I ran the fun run, the 5k and then the 5k route as a cooldown, so ended up with about seven miles. I will go on record as being a slow runner. Yesterday, I ran with a friend of the family, so slowed even more. It was a relaxing run.
I just noticed the time. It's getting late in your neighborhood. Good luck with your training. Piglet, lose the crutches quickly. That has to be the PITS. Have a great week.

Nice to find another FLM runner. How's training - or have you already posted it elsewhere?
Ironwolf.
Definitely Mars Bars and Mick Jagger was fond of them as well.

I'd also like to say how very sorry I am to read about the shuttle disaster over there. Please accept my sincere commiserations.
Jim C - may I introduce Johnny J, or JJ, our erstwhile leader and the originator of this greatest of all threads?
:-)
<piglet bows, and waves crutch around elegantly>
