Got a few things to do this morning, but around 10 or 11 I'm going to be heading down the A24 (may try a cut through over Epsom Downs) and then up Box Hill. May well pop into the bike shop that's on that road too, and then head home
Are you off today H? Would be good to meet up ) If not then Friday would be ace
It's a dangerous road - bike shop and outdoors clothing on one side, specialist running shop on the other side. It's near the traffic lights on the direct road out to Box Hill.
I knew there was somthing happening on Friday.... I won't be able to join you as I'll be on my way to Rutland water for a little drinking session on Saturday!
Pink, how's the bone scan? am wondering what I should do next about mine - they have had lots of phys and aren't improving.... next stop either podiatrist or chiropractor.
Nice one, Bear. I shall have to conquer that soon!
Bone scan was fine but expensive. My BUPA cover has been used up with all the physio etc so am having to pay for this myself. Bit annoyed as they told me £100 over the phone, and it turns out it's £250!! Half a bike :-( I think since I've been having trouble with shin splints for 3 years now it's worth investigating even if I have to fork out a bit. I'll see the rheumatologist next week for lots of (probably negative) results.
Is longer than Bitchling I think (~2km?), but that may make it less steep. It's the gradient of bitchling that makes it hard - but rewarded by great views from the top :-)
Well I know a good route - Epsom Downs, either through Headly towards Walton on the Hill and up to Box hill then down Zig zag through Leatherhead and back. Or Downs along the switchback, Walton then up to Box hill and same home. It's part of the Epsom 10 race route. Better to cycle than run!!!!!
From my 301... my two hill repeats today timed from approx 10m from the zigzag road turnoff to the lovely smelling grill at the top were: - 3.48km in 11:32 with 132m of climb (9m of drop) - 3.47km in 11:42 with 112m of climb (3m of drop) - also timed this last one as 9:05 to the cafe.
I reckon someone who can cycle can do each one at least 2 minutes faster!
And clearly the Garmin's not too good at altitude measurement sometimes...

Still not entirely sure where you are coming from.
But could arrange to meet "en route" - maybe somewhere like by the bike shop in Leatherhead?
Pick a time you are definitely going to be there!

Met Holly outside a bike shop - only had a quick glance but there may have been some bargains )
How long/high is Box Hill? Does your GF tell you?
I'd estimate 2.5kms, or 3km if you go right to the very top, but the last half k flattens out a bit
...and an ice cream van ;-)
Did you come back through Headley. That's my route from Box Hill. Soooo nice
I like to have chocolate cake at the top as well:0)
And a wild west restaurant :oD
if you fancy popping up for a try Pink and don't want to journey up on the morning, there's a sofa with your name on it )
The cake was seriously tempting!
I did try to reverse the Epsom 10 route the other day but got lost!
