Lovely day, it's been like Spring here. Sadly not running till this evening when I suspect it'll cool down quite rapidly.

Sore throat, tired and depressed

Hilly- I also struggle a bit with marathon pace runs, on the treadmill I can stick to the pace but can't do the distance (too boring) on the roads I can do the distance,but since my SDM broke find myself dropping off the pace 15 miles is a long way to keep that speed up in training, no adrenaline and a "lumpy" route!Comfort myself with the thought that I am also still tired from Sunday.

hippo - please don't be so hard on yourself. you've been training like a demon and you're doing more than fine. never feel bad about having a rest when you need it.

Hippo- I think you need to re-phrase the can't be bothered to something like am working a 54 shift so long that if an animal was made to do it there'd be an outcry!
Back to work tomorrow hopefully, but I'm not even going to think of trying to run again until the weekend.
But benzy will be out early tomorrow, oh yes

BTW, some people prefer to break up the long marathon pace runs into "tempo intervals". Lidia Simon does this pretty nifty work-out which is 3x10K at marathon pace (or slightly faster) with 10 minute recoveries, and she reckons that's quite tough enough. I've tried this before as 3x5M with 90 sec. recoveries and it's much easier to hold pace and put in a quality session than trying to blast through the full distance. you probably get just as much benefit out of it this way and it's not so discouraging on those days when you're a bit off colour.
Why: Had to find a way to 'slip one in' tonight - almost impossible. Only way was to get off tube early on way home from work. Very tired as I've been working till 1am and getting up at 7am. But pleased another one to cross off the list

Just got back from my test! Got 17.03.3 which is an average of 1.42.3 per 500m for those that use the indoor rower.
I felt sick near the end and my legs are like jelly now. Not to mention what they were like with 1200m to go. Still it's done and out of the way!
Recovery run in the morning me thinks. I'm getting to quite like this running lark. Even though I never go more than 10k.
p.m. - set off with high hopes of 15 miles and knew within the first 2 I was knackered. Struggled on gamely up to 11 and a half - dropping well behind clubmates. When I finished it turned to be 7-20 miling, not too bad but felt worse.
Why:really hard s/w last night.
