SQ - it was impressive that you finished. I'd have probably found a pub with a log fire along the route and stayed there! Good to read you're recovering ok. SG - I've done one xc race this year so I totally get the year passing you by feeling, but sometimes you just need to be patient and let it come to you. Reg - how was…
If you have Boston listed in your upcoming races then the Fetch calculator will give you a prediction based on the previous 8 weeks training. You can retrospectively add the race & it will still work. I can certainly recommend Newport as a low key, local alternative to London. Logistics are so simple.
ps it's probably time for another shout out for any lurkers. Having lost Phil Minestrone Jones, Bus and Power Pete from being regulars, and our youngest and most handsome poster Joe currently battling a recovery, we probably need some new blood.
Good decision TR. I'll always remember Maidenhead 10 back in my early times doing it. I was maybe about a 62min 10m guy then and someone ahead collapsed about 100m off the finish and actually passed away. Can't remember the exact details but I think he'd collapsed and been attended to long before I got near the finish so…
SQ - That sounds a heck of a miserable day that one. Out of 30 HM I've only had one that was a disaster, so that's the one I remember the most. But double the distance, dreadful weather, all the nonsense with the drenched clothes! I suppose unlike my bad HM you didn't have a health meltdown in there too, that's the only…
TT - if there had been a pub en route I would most certainly have been in it! Seems a world away now with the recent hot weather. Reg - great to hear your wife doing so well. Can’t believe you did three laps 😬. Saw a video of the burpee jumps - they look hard! Sorry about the contact issues but a great write up. Am…
SC - sorry to read you've been struggling on several fronts. I have had more than my fair share of prolonged periods with both too. When my insomnia gets really bad nothing available over the counter breaks the cycle, but the closest I've found are Sleep Eazy tablets, so might be worth a try for you. There are links…
I've only read this page so I am not sure exactly what's occurred recently but well done all. Sounds like relays success and nearly a medal. I'll have a proper read back later. SQ big week of 31m, I assume that should be 81! Like SG, I have been a coughing, spluttering mess the last few days. I planned some good raining…
EDIT: Probably too much detail to follow! He follows an American method called PRI, (postural restoration Institute). The idea is that we are all biased towards our right side for various reason, natural body asymmetry etc. It's not a problem as the body compensates but you can get to a point where you're getting stuck in…
