Ah cheers Andy. Do it! Seren, ah thats a good one. What race was that? I tried to hold it together at the end of NDW50 but was just so overwhelmed when I saw my other half standing there with a bottle of IRN-BRU in her hand!
Whts the may trail run cinders? sounds nice, i do quite like trail runs but always seem to end up on tarmac events ...will have to get JB to drag me around some forests NDW50 is August, croydon ultra is 30miles
Kier - The NDW50 is the first half of the course. Its a long way but I did not find the terrain that challenging. Apart from Box Hill no real lung busters. It maybe because I did a lot of running in North Wales and in Shropshire were the terrain is more challenging.
Dean, that depends on (a) you; (b) which ultra. I was happy in my VB Neo Trail for e.g. NDW50, but for Lakeland 50 decided I wanted just a bit more protection against sharp rocks so got myself a pair of Inov8 Trailroc 235.
Debra: I can thoroughly recommend the NDW50, did it last year, v v good organisation and the course is in parts beautiful and stunning in others. A few hills thrown in for good measure as well. Well done on your Ultra. ** 3:45 Pacer for Greater Manchester Marathon **
clairster in a way im looking at this a training run too as i plan to just carry on with that distance after its over as ive entered NDW50 in august ...so although ive reached the end of the little journey on my mara schedule its the beginging really of the ultra schedule
Hope people are running well? Having a bit of a break, only ran 50/60 miles so far this month. Only 8 miles short of 1500 (2016 total). Have a 10k in a couple of weeks which will hurt and be a shameful time, then start training for Manchester marathon and NDW50.
And while I was writing that, WIB's and carterusm's posts came through - oh well! carterusm: thinking 11 month training sounds good - actually that's about what I did, building up from October 2011 to NDW50 2012. Enjoy the running, and yes, come to the wannabe thread!
I've booked the Belaire too! Suspect I'll end up using a SVN event for my qualifier, again, but do need to do some hilly ones as well. I'd love to do SDW50 but have to be at a conference on that Saturday for work (every year. Grr.) NDW50 is a bit close to Comrades...
Anybody running the exmoor ultra saturday . My training a bit slow at the moment twisted the old ankle in the grizzly still running but not as strong.just entered the NDW50 in may last long run until The Wall.anyone tried the new bounce energy balls yet ??? Justed ordered some looks taste. .
