It's 3.26am and I'm in Bristol on the p1ss for a friends birthday. I haven't drunk since New Year due to my own thoughts on training for the Outlaw. I'm now lying in bed shitfaced dfter 4 drinks in a night thinking is it really worth it?????

Of course it is. But then I don't drink and can't stand the taste of the stuff so it wouldn't bother me.
But if it was giving up chocolate then that would be an entirely different matter!
Midday and no sign of him - must be bad.
Realising that the hangover isn't worth an extra beer or two is a sure sign of middle-age, you know.
I'm with you on the chocolate though. Raisin & biscuit Yorkie is one of your 5 a day.
I don't know any runners that are big drinkers but I know that running is a great cure for a hangover...good luck with that lol

Red wine is the secret of my success... well, relative success... ok just getting round strategy.. but who would want to give up alcohol?
Giving up the booze is pointless. Everything in moderation...l remember a few years (as in 5-10!) back 5 of the top 10 of the southern x-c were in the pub after!
Unless you are top of your field and a professional athlete, enjoy your sport and don't let it inhibit your social life .
Yes - going on the booze the night before not recommended...
I dont see the need to give up the booze really - then again I'm a crap drinker anyway - I only have a drink every now and then, and TRY not to overdo it. Sometimes I get that wrong too. I think a drink or two in the run up to a big event helps to calm the nerves.
(a hip flask for the swim is probably a danger sign though)
+1 on that CD.
I gave up chocolate for a few months, but fell off the wagon at The outlaw, and I wasn't even doing the fecking thing! I'm going to try to give it up again, as I can't moderate my intake (i'd rather have a Twirl in a hipflask for the swim... ).
I could give up booze, but since I can take it or leave it these days, i've decided not to give it up while I do IM training. I don't drink the night before early morning long runs (well, I won't when i get round to doing them) or long bike rides, but otherwise I'm finding a wee cider, or glass of vino doesn't hurt every now and again
I ask myself this nearly every Saturday morning when I'm at work feeling like shite and the answer is always no!
Then next Friday comes.
I love beer.
Don't drink till it's past the yard arm though.
I don't believe in giving stuff up, you only want something more if you deprive yourself.
everything in moderation with the occasional blitz from time to time - hang on that sounds like tri training!!
I am sitting here watching Sky Football having a few ciders for the 3rd evening running. Yep quite sad to say I do feel guilty. But. No doubting you feel better when training and have not had any for a good few days. Moderation and control is the word me thinks.
this year saturday is my long day...and i now dont drink on a friday...but providing i've trained well on a saturday i then get shitface saturday night and spend sunday recovering with a bit of light swimming..maybe.
Cant just give up....got to have some fun right
