Drew, anyone, do you reckon racing with music helps or hinders? I've read that disassociating (like listening to music)can help in the first half of the race, associating in the 2nd but that the elite run faster when associating the whole time...
Whilst I would never have music on for an experience like London, I've got a small rural 10 miler this weekend and want to treat it as a hard training session..would music help me push harder and take my mind off those horrible middle miles or would it distract me from my pace??

Racing to the Smiths? Now there's a thought...
Going out for my run last night was entertaining! I was soaked! And I managed to experience 3 thunderstorms in the same run! Impressed?
I know nothing about music and running but I think you get the prize for the cutest picture !
I'll go away and wake before I put my nose in any more topics.
Have a small radio which I can clip to shorts or bottle belt... good old Magic FM helped me through all those 20 milers during the FLM build-up...
What's this song about a small spotty dog - I don't know it ?
If you dont succeed with the resize mail me.
Hope the little one gets better. Another one local to Reading eh. Do you do any local races. Fraggle is looking for company on a running session at Rivermead if you're interested
Now, to get back to the music question...
Thanks!
Parsley.
Check the race Rules as most now Ban Headphones for Listening to music due to our favourite department H.S.E
music can help I found when I did the Brighton Marathon and Hastings it was not a problem, but when I competed in Dunsfold it was a major issue due to the isolated roads and no crowds timing was lousy but to be fair I might have got myself Killed as the roads were not closed
good luck in your Run
