Tenolysis

Does anyone have any experience of this. I'm probably going to have this op in March and I wondered whether I can expect any serious improvement, other than in pain levels when I stop doing the hand therapy exercises.

Background - r hand little finger. Pilon fracture Sept 11, damaged PIP joint, Suzuki frame fitted, removed after 8 weeks. Aggressive physio has resulted in passive movement significantly better than active movement. (*I* notice there is no 'groove' in top of PIP joint - medics haven't commented on that yet.) Almost no movement in DIP joint.

Cor - end of the line for you.

Pretty specialist stuff. Make sure you've got the right guy (or gal) at the pointy end of the knife....

    Good Luck

    Thanks for that reply.

I've googled enough to understand some of the pitfalls of surgery, all the docs so far (11 of them) have set my expectations very low; "poor outcome" is a phrase I've heard many times. But all that is academic and google doesn't give me experience.

I was hoping for some real-life "it happened to me and this was my experience" stories to fill the gaps between pictures, and maybe offer some postives; all seems unremittingly negative at present.

    Hi Helegant
I don't know if this is relevant but I broke my little finger tendon (resulting in "hammer finger" or whatever it's called) a couple of years ago. I had it splinted for some weeks, which didn't help, and then had an op which was a complete failure - when the bandages came off my finger tip drooped to a worse angle than before.
So I've now had the end 2 bones of my finger fused (screwed together basically!)
I'm not sure that that's any help to you at all! As far as pain is concerned it's just a matter of time and being careful not to bash it against things!
It shouldn't affect your running! image
