I've raced Weymouth on a few occasions. It's really nice. OW hits around 17 degrees late June in the harbour, clear-ish water. Can be a bit vicious in bad weather. Bike has to be a bit lumpy, actually, quite lumpy indeed.
Long been talk about the Bustinskin Stoneman possibility in the area.
I don't yet know if I am going to be able to race again at any kind of long distance, but Weymouth is a supporters dream. Promenade reminds me of IMF in 2008, but slightly cooler.
I expect I'll go to Weymouth but Henley was just about perfectly located for me (ok - a bit selfish). Despite only living 20 miles away, me and the family did 3 weekends in Henley - spending plenty each time - just because of Challenge. I was thinking of writing to the Henley Standard (the only paper that runs a story to tell you a reader's shoes are worn out - still love that!) to say that I couldn't be the only one who didn't bring sandwiches etc etc but then I decided it wouldn't achieve anything. Still, as Cat says, it's a shame.
a scenic swim.must mean the sea.....or the lake district.but no falt bike courses near the lake district
What about Dartmoor? Swim in Burrator, bike around several of the roads there, not all the roads are really hilly and the marathon around the reservoir. Not that I know if they allow swimming there but it's scenic
Shame about Henley but living and working nearby it was no surprise, they really hated it but somehow seemed to like the Henley half mara last weekend!
Somebody message me please and put me out of my misery! A race in England has to be easy for me to get to from Germany. Need to either pencil it in or cross it out.

Ah shite, I am out, it clashes with Mr F's escape from Alcatraz swim
Oh no mental, that's terrible
Balls. Back to the drawing board, but will definitely do Cotswold 226 in August.

Great place for the family, wonder if the bike route heads towards West Bay on the coast road, there's an evil climb out of Abbotsbury.
i take if buskinskin organise one then we can all draft around the bike course with our pown personal pacers
There goes the club place that Challenge donated each year Let's hope they extend a similar offer to a club down in Weymouth.
It really is a shame about Henley.
No Cougie, it's all those selfish triathletes bringing their own sandwiches instead of frequently the local establishments

Well I've done the pre-registration anyway, just in case. Challenge Roth sold out in 5 mins flat for 2014
Thanks! Now just have to plot my route.
OK I'm in, registered for the half - not allowed to do the full IM any more.
Obv we took our own sandwiches though - and that bloody teddybear shop won't get any money off me !
Time, I think to open the new thread.
Challenge Weymouth.
