GB, that was a consideration? I was at a Revolution area in Brighton a month ago and the bar area and other nooks were relatively quiet, they had a separate downstairs area where the music was booming.
Ive been told they can put us in a quiet area which leaves us the opportunity to mingle into the other bars later if we choose.
There are two buffet options Festive finger buffet £11.95 or more substantial buffet at £14.95, ive gone for the latter.
I need to confirm numbers by the end of this week and pay a deposit. If anyone on the list is unable to come please let me know asap.

Hi Barley, I just got your messages. Sorry for the late response but I'm going to have to be a dropout I'm afraid. It clashes with a work do, and I wouldn't be a pirate if I turned down free beer....
If you've already paid anything for me I'll happily cover that!
I'm uber-sorry. After having to stump up over £100 to travel to sheffield this weekend, and then more travel in 2 weeks time, and then again 2 weeks following the party, I've realised I really can't afford to spend the money to travel up for the social I was hoping a trip would clash but have just found out it won't do!!
Obviously I'm happy to pay costs if already has been arranged. Very gutted as Sheffield is my old stomping ground - and didnt foresee the extra trips would be required (or train fare so expensive)
At the moment, as far as im concerned this is still going ahead. 9 people are confirmed (including myself).
Im booking a room at Novotel, (£79 at Laterooms.com), but im going to check that the room is cancellable! as im worried the Sheffield social could fall on its ass if any more people drop out and particularly that there is now talk of an event in London?
Sheffield was intended to placate the feedback that things are to often London centric. Clearly it hasn't caught peoples imagination like the events in previous years.
As I said above, at this point im booking a room which gives me the option to cancel. Depending what happens in the next 5 days I will confirm with the venue (Revolution) on Monday and pay a £50 deposit for the food (£14.95 each, payable to me on the day).
If the numbers drop further before Monday / people change their minds ill cancel my room. If the 9 people confirmed all still want to go ahead then PARTY ON we shall.
To be fair Barlos I think every year we have done 'elsewhere' a London drinkies has been done too Personally I would have come to Sheffield had I not been all socialled out financially
Barley - With numbers I think don't book Revolution and if people are still coming then we can go somewhere really nice for dinner instead. Then go for drinks. I think that'seasier and would suit more people (remember Melli is a celiac).
Aitch, that's a good suggestion. Can you recommend anywhere?
Restaurant will suit better as with the numbers there won't be to many that everyone can't talk to each other. We can invoke the move one seat to the left every course rule so the conversation moves around.
Try Silverstone's right near the train station. Very lovely, my favourite Sheffield restaurant probably... Was slightly ruined when it was 'done up' on one of Gordan Ramsey's Kitchen TV shows, but still nice.

GB, no problem, I totally understand about costs etc.
Sorry to stick my nose is, why dont you guys go out and have a meal somewhere in Sheffield ?? Thats a nice number for a sociable evening
I think we have all been socialled out with the numerous weddings

A proper meal might be better for less people. I'm gluten intolerant but not coeliac and buffet food is a nightmare
Oi !! Barlos ! 'thats a good suggestion'
None taken
Oh yes I thought it was

helloee.
meal out is a great idea if there is not so many of us. I like actually being able to talk at, I mean, to people
A place used to loud groups of people is good.
A bit of goofling throws up http://www.ottosrestaurant.co.uk/ but I'm not a local (far from) so any real information appreciated.
