Holly, Austria starts at 7am so I should be coming out of the water shortly after you start if you've also a 7am start but I seem to recall seeing you've an 8am start?
Little Sister, I assumed you'd pop over to Austria, fix my bike before heading home to do Outlaw
Ferret, actually, I remember that run. Gladys has SERIOUS competition this year. It will be handbags at dusk!
I'm definitely not getting into a "Slagging Henny Off" competition as I've seen her training on facebook and she is going to kick ass on Sunday. Go Henny!
Hop hop hop in Austria, Orca Race strong. You are indeed right about the Hen, she will kick arse, Funkin and I were discussing the very same thing earlier...seems a long time since Roth when last we saw her properly (and indeed you at IMCH)...as for Ferret, surely *no* competition...!
Damn tapering wide awake at 5am and to make things worse when I look out the window I see rain which is typical as I cleaned, degreased and polished my bike yesterday!!!
This week has been warmer in Nottingham. Expecting water temp in the mid teens, so not tropical, but plenty warm enough! If you're worried about getting cold we suggest the following: Do not wait in the water for the start, you can stand at the back of the pack and wait for the starting signal before you get in (you won't lose more than a few seconds by doing this, and you'll stay warm!) Get to the expo early and get yourself a neoprene skull cap, TFN had a delivery this week, but it wasn't a massive delivery! If you need neoprene booties and gloves to help keep you warm, then we have no issues with this - just as long as they are not webbed.
So, it looks like Dusty can wear his gimp mask after all!!
If the water temp in our big deep old quarry is anything to go by sticking caps gloves and boots on may end up as a boil in the bag experience after 2.4 miles of effort
That's one hell of a participation list! Just wanted to say a huge good luck for Sunday and big thanks to those on the facebook page who welcomed my friend in to the group and helped persuade her not to DNS. Liz is rocking race number 81
Just popped in to wish everyone a great race on Sunday and I am sorry I am not able to make it. It just wasn't to be this year. It is an awesome Pirate list and for all those who have never raced in the yellow and black you are in for a very emotional day. And for those that have, it will be another special day.
can you add my mate Azattack to the list. He will be racing in Prirate kit but has being doing too much training to log on to the forum. He is number 156. Thanks
