Hi nurse.....i cant advise on kit size as I am of the chunkier nature......but I love your symbol......what does it stand for......
let us know which race you do next year and you might find other pirates doing it......and all newbies ordering kit and wanting kit...........try and get to the outlaw this year to support..its going to be the biggest pirate get together ever and you are bound to find at least one pirate who can talk sense........also check out the non training kit which can be ordered whenever to show support.......
part of the pirate spirit in my opinion is to have a laugh and not take yourself seriously.to support and help each other........so get stuck in an join in the banter...or at least come and shake those pompoms at a race...........
Unfortunately, I can't make Outlaw this year . (Shhhhhhhh, don't tell gastank or he'll come looking for me).
The pirate attitude of not taking yourself seriously is right up my street, and I'm looking forward to meeting you all at some point. Don't suppose anyone else will be doing Gullane Beach Tri?
Schmunkee, you do a brilliant job with the task of getting us all kitted out! I don't think a little intro is too much of a bother, especially if it's someone who hasn't posted before.
Welcome Nurse Ratched. And to any lurking newbies, don't be put off by dodgy dynamics between certain forumites. We are a very welcoming and encouraging group and you'll be guaranteed phenomenal support racing in the yellow and black.
Nurse, have a quick look at this link for what LG think their sizing is?!?!?. Not sure about the lady's, but as Schmunk's says the boys stuff is certainly on the small size! According to this I should be a small, but a med fits perfectly!!
Hmmm I'm a bit concerned about my shorts order now! They're looking a bit short! Might be ok when I get to racing snake size though... Nurse 8-10, got ur number
Ok, I'm loving the whole pirate thing and I want in ... I'd love to do the meeting and cheering stuff, but restricted with family commitments at the moment, but they're getting older by the day ...!
Deffo IM at some point, and Ripon Tri (Oly) in July (first). So would certainly be interested in a bit of the clingy, fly-attracting yellow ... but can't quite match the list to the website.
The website talks about 'Elite', 'Performance - Delfino' and 'Sport', but on here there are cycle tops, jackets, gilets, tanks and monacos. I'm on a steep learning curve here - I know what OW and OP and Oly is now, but haven't mastered the whole clothing dialect yet.
Excuse me for being a numpty and a bit particular about styles, but I'm no model and rarely buy without trying - especially if it isn't going to leave much to the imagination as with lycra.
Can someone advise about which Louis Garneau items these are, please?
Schmunkee - thanks for sorting out kit for everyone. I've read the posts about initiations / introductions / open doors and the like, and so now I've introduced myself - [declares "aaarrgh" in a pilate tone ....]
Monaco = sleeveless tri-top, cycle top and cycle jacket speak for themselves and Tanks are what fish live in.
Your time seems restrcited but if you want to try on the kit you need to find a race with Pirates in and ask to try. Although Evans have started stocking LG kit so trying a bike top there for size is an option.

Nurse Ratched for the tri kit - xs should be ok for you.
hope you enjoy becoming part of the Pirate madness
Thanks Rio.
I think its the Triquetra, an ancient “Triple-Goddess” of triangulate

Indeed it is.
Hi Hope
WHAT?!

Thanks, Raf, have just been looking at that very thing! Don't want to order a top then find it doesn't fit.
Sizing is a wierd thing - my Altura bike top is XXS, Nike running tops are S, but in Asics & Adidas I need a M.
Really, I'm surprised they fit someone who's 6'4" and 20 stone
I agree, well said
On another note, my previous post on kit is now sold.
It's a pressie for Partner in Crime
According to LG sizing chart, I'll need a M tank top please.
And do you order pirate shorts?
Ta much
That doesn't explain my current wardrobe, does it?
Damn - blown my cover.
Nursie, Schmunks can get Pirate shorts as well if you would like some
You can find a picture of a Pirate wearing some at the rear of this lot
http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/forum/triathlon/the-old-guard/191248-5.html
Or if you have Holg's book I'm sure there's a picture of him, Dave, Viking and Min modelling some!
Actually, I'll just stick with a M tank top for now, thanks.
( Nothing to do with the models!!)
Did they do the entire race like that?
I bet the ride would be interesting like that!!
That was the finish line conga
I've got the pirate monaco and shorts on (they are the old style shorts though) the new ones are much nicer but the same design
Is that Kanga wearing Hot pants at the back??...they look very short.
you don't want to look any of that lot
Don't forget that the monaco is a different fit from the cycle tops/jackets. Rafi's link expains it a bit more.
Cycle tops & jackets = snug but nice. Monaco = Matt Lucas only gay in the village
