Does anyone have any first hand experience parking at or near eXcel arena whilst registering for VLM?
I know they cater well for cars during the London Tri (albeit it at £15+ a pop) but it’s not given a mention in the recent Marathon magazine and since it’s far more convenient for me to pop into that corner of London by car before heading west to lay my head tomorrow, I’m keen to establish if it’s actually possible?
Ive driven there on a Saturday a couple of times and there seemed plenty of space in the underground carpark. Given that registration is spread over a few days and a lot of people seem to take the DLR id imagine it wont be to bad.
I took the car up yesterday and parking's fine Robbie, (getting through the Blackwall tunnel was a different matter though!)
In addition to the underground carpark, there's a multistorey as well 2 mins walk from Excel it's a £5 for 2 hrs parking, so there should be plenty of space.
PRW - I used to live just on the other side of the docklands and there was always a spare bit of parking around there, its free as there are no resident permits needed or anything. Head to West Silvertown station and pull in to the estate opposite that... it's 5 minutes walk over the footbridge to get to Excel
I'll be heading this evening for an hour, just to soak up the atmosphere more than anything and feel even more gutted I can't run:
Good luck all ... A mate of mines band are playing on a pub roof on the course ... I've asked them to keep an eye out for the yellow and black tops and play something piratey for you .
Hi IW We're settling back in to Oz life, done a couple of runs, and got IM Cairns (was Challenge!) in a few weeks, so that will be a tough day out on no training. Will sleep through London mara, big day at work tomorrow including flying to Brisbane and back for a 1 hour meeting ...
Really fancy IM Cairns one day. Let us all know what it's like mate.
A bit windy today, but otherwise perfect for running. A tough last 7 or 8 miles for me, lost a few minutes to come home in 2:39. I managed to spot the pirate massive at mudchute for a change, thanks for the support HC et al. I spotted one pirate racing, coming the other way at 13/22 miles, so if that was you giving me a bemused look at around 2:10 or so, you were running well there, hope it continued...
