Thanks bbp, but although I feel stronger I still swim with my arms sticking out like oars. After this Outlaw thingy I'm going to work to rid myself of all sorts of hideous habits, starting with my sporting ones lol.
I have started pool swimming as spring has not come.......on friday i will do a 400m swim to see if i can get it close to 10 mins......my mile times were faster this morning than last tuesday

Did the timed 100 at the end of my session today just to see what I did really, used one of my 400 timed sessions from the month although it wasnt a 'big effort' one
well i knew i wouldnt have time to do a seperate TT for 1500 so i'll use my 2 splits taken from my 4k endurance swim i did today, the first was 33.10 and the second was 33.39, not fast but not alot degradation in times so happy with it

Oh dear, I haven't been concentrating. If I'm not too late, please can you put me down for 1500 of 33.29, 800 of 4.16 and 100 of 1.58? I'm still getting slower!
I've swum twice already this week! But intending to go as much as possible this week, testing the theory that great gains are to be made by getting in the pool regularly, so the short answer is "yes". And you?

I've bitten the bullet and paid for one-to-one lessons and put in 2 or 3 session per week in the pool. However, I still don't find it easy. I wanted to just "do the distance" breaststroke, to give me a bit of security that if it all goes pear-shaped on the big day, I can switch to bs, and get the swim done within the cut. It took me 1hr 52mins this morning, so I was actually quite pleased.
By the way, just in case you were wondering, all the times I've put on this thread are for front crawl. It is really useful for me to use it to try to push myself and JFDI .
Sooo, sorry for the ramble, it's a long way of saying, my next target will be 3000km for front crawl.
This morning's swim was concentrating on trying to improve my stroke rate. Best times were:
100m - 2:01 400m - 8:16
Some way off my best times for both distances but at least the 400m was an a bit of an improvement on last time.
I too will be trying to swim at least three times a week (including a weekly OW session soonish), so hopefully times will keep heading in the right direction

Did a 3K tonight and used my halfway slpit for the 1500m as well. Really pleased as no back pain and a much better than expected time.
Was actually much less mental torture than I expected and the furthest continuos swim I have ever done. Really facncy a beer to celebrate but I have promised to be good this week. .

First swim in about two weeks this morning; felt like I was swimming faster but times were rubbish. 400m was over 8:30, best 100 was 2:01
I'll use giving blood on Tuesday as an excuse and hopefully get a better session in before Monday
