On a turbo theme, can any of you experts (flattery gets me everywhere) recommend one for me. Not really arsed about levels of intensity, it would just be something that I can use while watching a bit of telly instead of going out on the roads.
Is this an item that's likely to be reduced in the Jan sales?
Gavo, the Minoura HyperMag 1200 did well in their tests, 9/10 for value and also for performance. I think it costs about £125, which is about the going rate for a decent one. Other than that you start looking at computer linked ergo trainers which are much more.
Never used one myself, but about to get the Minoura and spend all winter annoying the neighbours below.
Mmmm, sorry, you were right about the flecks of black but the answer is pink.
Gavo - I thnk that turbo trainers are the least likely item to be reduced in the January sales as that's when a lot of people end up buying them! You're more likely to get a bargain in April/May.
We've just bought a GIST fluid trainer. £125 from the very efficient www.oldhamcyclecentre.co.uk.
It's very quiet (we live in an apartment so this was essential! Magnetic trainers are very noisy, so I'm told), very sturdy (another prerequisite) and seems to do the trick. It's very easy to adjust for different bikes as well (useful, as there are two of us using it).
Oh, and the pictures on the box are, er, of definite interest to the boys (mildly pornographic in fact!).
Ooooh noooo! I threw it away cos it was distracting MrB from his work.
You'll just have to buy the GIST turbo trainer for yourself - £125, a small price to pay for a near-lifesize picture of the rear view of an Italian starlet doing, er... WHAT?????
OOoh, just had a lovely email back from Pete Read to say he won't charge me extra postage to send the turbo training book to ICeland! So his cheque is in the post.
Now heed his advice, and don't do what one guy did and do all the sessions back to back once you get the book !! Nutter !
Get a fan sorted so you don't overheat. A shelf next to the bike to put your radio/cd player or Blue Book, and some pennies that you can use to keep track of the reps you have done. Enjoy !!
