Tonight: Schedule originally said 4 but I had alot on my mind tonight so I just kept going. Last time I did this run I did it in 77:25 if that puts into perspective determined I was to run off the tension. The wind was howling and the rain lashing down. I hated every second of the first 15 minutes. I always do. But I settled down and finally warmed up. Once I warmed up, I was able to really dig deep and the legs lifted and stride lengthened and I was flying along. No aches. No pains. No tiredness. Not even short of breath. Right up until the last mile, I didn't once look at the clock... the last mile I looked at the clock to see that I'd covered the distance a lot quicker than I had previously. That provided the incentive I needed... intervals all the way back along that last mile. Fast... slow. Fast... slow. Result 1.91 minutes quicker than previous time.
Two words. Grim determination.
What: 7.11 miles Why: 4m schedule 3.11m thinking time Last rest: Yesterday Last hard: Tuesday Timing: 75:34 Pace: 10.5 min/miles
Jakesy -- it was that or get pi$$ed. Day I had, alcohol could quite happily have anaesthetised me. But... I went running instead. Choice was, there was no choice... and I've faced that before.
Also... 10.5 min miles is a thing I only dreamed about before and during my treatments. Post treatments, embarrassingly, I was running 12-14 minute miles - not that I'm being derogatory to those runners who run at that pace, but I knew it wasn't my best... just as I know this isn't my best. Now... 10.5 min/miles within two weeks of a chest infection. I am relieved it's back.
It's not big and it's not clever shouting at everyone at 5:51am. It's very mean!!!! Some people obviously need their sleep unlike us early morning types.
Anyway m'lady. That's a good run given the horrible conditions last night. I must admit that I was going to go out for a trot, but when I looked outside I opened a bottle of Stella instead!!
Thanks Rob - that means alot. It didn't feel hard though. Weird how that sometimes happens. Feel the need for speed though. Okie doke. Off to wuk. TTYL.
I know. I did over do it last night I suppose but in my defense it was more therapeutic than anything else last night. So I'll cut the Saturday run down to 2 miles instead of 3. Sunday was planned as between 6-8 so I'll probably go for 6 rather than 8. That way this week's mileage is still on target and more evenly spaced.
