Is it really only 2 weeks away?? Finally remembered to pay the other day and I also went for my first plod of the year yesterday so things are looking good!! Can't wait :-)
I think the best tactic to make the weekend go swimmingly would be to capture Meldy as early as poss on the Friday, tie her up in a sack and bundle her into the boot of her car.
EP - look after that back and get it treated, you'll be fine!
RB, if you look at Waisterworld, there is a photo of a few of us from last year.
It is a strange feeling meeting people for the first time when you know them very well, and the picture you have of them in your head and the accents that you imaging they have can sometimes be at odds! But the interesting thing is that they are all friends, and the normal 'getting to know you' type things don't apply in these situations.
If people are really nervous, perhaps we could all put our names on labels like we do at conferences and we could all wander around gazing at each others chests. What do you think XB???
Well everyone will know what I look like!! Although I wont be wearing the Mr Men this time!!
i love meeting new people because I am the shy and retiring type!! lol
just spent a couple of hours today with a guy who went in January (I had never met him before but chatted on the forum) He is very jealous and wants to come again. New peeps are fun and we all have so much in common. Its not like we dont know what we like doing??
Rio - we don't tend to use each other's 'real life' names. Not because of any need to keep anonymity or anything, but because that's how we know each other!
When I was at the London Expo last year - I was queuing for the loo when I saw someone I knew (I think it was Fifi), after we had greeted each other I told her that I had seen Hippo and Shades and Beanz!
For some reason I was getting some odd looks from some of the people in the queue!!!!
That's good then cos it is hard to get used to calling someone something else when you have been using a psuedoname for so long.
A couple of the ladies in my group never know whether to call me Linda or Rio. I have told them as long as it is reasonably polite they can call me what they like (although I think after a hard session its not necessarily that polite!!)
I am useless with names anyway so will just muddle along as best I can
Pix - if you do as has been suggested and stay painfree and active, I'm sure you will be fine on this weekend. You don't have to do all the runs - and with the techy sessions you can come along and watch and still pick up some useful info.
The runs are mostly on soft forest tracks so you are unlikely to do more damage.
Unless of course the physio comes out with a definite nono.
Hmm. I'm kind of interested in this. It would be good for motivation to get away for a weekend and train & stuff. But I'm only doing 3 or 4 mile runs at about 12 min mile pace at the mo. Too slow? Too short? And are there places left for the 10-12 Feb one? The site doesn't say it's full...
Quimby not too slow or too little if last year is anything to go by and it's a scream!
RB and Rio - definitely forum names - to suddenly use real names would be like suddenly calling your hubbie / wife / kids etc (delete as applicable) by somebody else's name - it just doesn't work!
Oh and Pix - loads of folk last year did only part of the runs or reduced runs - as long as the fizz doesn't give a definite nono (if it exists!) then you'll still get a lot out of it!

Pseduonames are good, ive got to grips with most names on here now, it would be a nightmare doing real names too.
Cant wait getting really excited

Quimby ring them - there may well be a place you would fit in quite nicely at your distance and pace!
Two weeks to go!
