TT - if you join before the race you get away with it, but yeah Marlow always seem to have had that rule. And a HM and now 10m and 7m properly takes marshals i'm sure.
Bit different to Handy Cross with a town centre 5miler I expect.
Sounds a decent sesh, just from the classically complicated mix of paces and timings
Casual parkrun from the SC - quicker than any 5k i've done in 18months or so.
SQ - downhill gradient first km in a 5k definitely asks for trouble doesn't it
You'll get that V40 pb down I'm sure.
Did my first proper sesh for what must be about a month.
Solid enough.
4x1mile off 2mins. No particular intention on pace rather than what felt a sensible effort. Considered it might be progressive, but was relaxed.
Bastad wind one direction probably explains some jumping around in paces.
6.09, 5.48, 5.58, 6.03
I'm not sure you ever feel the wind as such, but the 2nd one was probably the smoothest route.
Whereas the 1st one goes a cross a mini roundabout and then a slight incline first half which doesn't help. Usual couple of slight hazards and having to be cautious which never helps.
Ideally need to get these sort of reps quicker, but for a first leap in in ages that'll do nicely. Much better than the 12x30secs last week, with some of them over 6 pace!
Yep. Seems the best bet. Closest, bunch of people I know, 3 of them in and around my level. Wycombe phoenix, a crack ac doing mad sessions doesn't seem the right move. Marlow, my old lot, the romantic choice but probs too social truth be told. And rules you out of the Marlow 7/10k/hm in Nov as they bar their runners entering.
Hi, I can understand the reluctance to get involved in this topic. If my experiences are anything to go by, it was unclear how the condition came about and even less clear how it went away. I've had two or three periods with PF, over the last couple of years, and like you, have found very conflicting opinions on how best to treat the condition.
What I would say is that the various stretches, ice-rolling, scraping and manipulations have done no harm and may have helped???
I now wear trainers indoors (for 'slippers') for support, and always do some foot-flexing before getting up in the morning. I'm also keen on single-foot balancing...in a queue, preparing veg., brushing teeth...etc. Yes, quite odd really, but nobody else is going to look after this (very) old body and I do enjoy my running!
I've been clear for about a year, and currently run about 30 miles per week.
Perhaps a few others will join in, with more wisdom than I can bring to the topic?
Well Garmin obviously thought I was someone else this morning - 7 x1min @ 8m/m pace - no thanks!!
I had to post some letters so went via the post box and had a miles of gentle downhill before the inevitable hills to complete 3.35 miles at a very modest 12:30m/m pace but with HR 118/130 with 50m of elevation.
The start was a pleasant change to my usual 40m climb in 500 yards!
TS: Good to see you keeping up the longer distances. How are your knees and toes holding out? Any noticeable improvement?
Up too late for parkrun this morning so instead a single loop progression run. First 4k @ ~6:09, last 4k @ 5:33 (5:45 > 5:12 over last full km). Fairly tough going at end! HR told the story (133/153).
