Jools - just 16.15 will do I think, really not sure about my fitness at the moment, just don't feel 100% right.
SG - Off 20 secs? depends on how fast you run them mate
Reg - Tak's are pretty grippy, continental rubber on sole.
I've been to Leominster before. Are you sitting comfortably?
On a 6th form trip to Florence in Oct 1989, I got left behind in Siena by our coach, so asked this other party from Herefordshire if I could get a lift to the next village, and they allowed me, as we were going to the same place
One of the girls on the coach, Clare, used to live in Bournemouth - and WOULD YOU ADAM n EVE IT?? Next door to one of the girls on our trip!
Anyway, Claire was from Leominster and I stayed friends, then visited her the next Easter. Non romantic, but I did quite fancy her LOL.
I did go to her 18th the next Easter, but lost touch. I just know she went to Luton Uni.
Must admit I love all the faff and the logistical things that irk other people. But that’s London for me. It’s NOT like any other race. I go down Friday, come back Monday. So I make a full weekend of it. I love the train journey down, being like a little kid on the DLR when you’re near the O2 and you can see the race route beneath you. I like the Expo, the Fri eve shenanigans, a womble round a parkrun Sat morn then going for some food somewhere. I like just pottering round Sat afternoon, going for a coffee somewhere, going to a Tesco or similar to get our food for immediate post-race etc. Love the journey to the start and all the nervous expectation etc. It’s just a mega weekend. I fully get why people DONT like it and think it’s a logistical nightmare, but I just embrace and go all in. It’s the absolute highlight of my year, by a million miles!
Anyway, I did my 6 with 2 at MP earlier. Felt quite hard and my leg was dreadful. Magic stuff. The taper is serving me well. My MP today came in at 6’35 (slightly downhill), 6’45 (slightly uphill).
Think my plan early doors is nothing quicker than 6’40, nothing slower than 6’50 if I can. But I’ll let feel and HR be the main factor. See how I settle in. I’ve never ever had the ‘this feels easy’ thing for the first half. I always feel like shite for the first 10 miles. I don’t feel any better after 10, but at least I’ve only got 16 to go then rather than 26!
Oh and for those not on FB. I’ve accidentally dyed my hair neon green. I look like a cross between a Proclaimer and Orville.
Hope a rest works Chamolk. If not don't risk it. There will be other marathons.
Well done emzap Good total *before* breakfast Hazel Steady does it Pammie
33m13 parkrun for me, sadly not at Worsley Woods and not supported by AH. Bright sun initially (shorts and t-shirt parkrun ) but now clouded over and a little gusty.
Simon - looks like a Wembley episode of the Inbetweeners.
Reg - hope you get fit and healthy for your hyrox event.
SG - you're far too much of a running nerd to not run a marathon one day. But that same thing would have you massively over thinking it and becoming a nervous wreck, so maybe it's best not to.
Not a good day SIM Swap fraud https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIM_swap_scam#:~:text=A SIM swap scam (also, placed to a mobile telephone. Essentially phone number stolen and then used to authenticate changes to internet banking & email. Fortunately RBS was right onto it and froze our account immediately although they couldn't contact me as email and phone number were in hands of perpetrator. Apparently no financial loss but now all bank cards and internet banking cancelled. Phone and email restored but not without problems as they are use to cross authenticate each other.
Have cancelled planned trip to Manchester. ;-( Feeling a bit vulnerable Missed Pilates
Have a good one tomorrow SC, actually don't envy you on the leg, and right now it still seems a hell of a long drive and lot of hanging about
Have been conducting a typically sensible recovery plan - very gently inching the single run up. And i have to say 6miles today felt better than any of the 4-5s until today.
Legs certainly still feel a bit leaden, and it's only sub 8 sort of fare.
25 Mon to Fri, i'll take the usual Sat off, and then gently perhaps inch to 7-8 Sunday, for a 32/33.
Then hopefully see that to 45-50 next week then move from there.
Last friday track of the block tonight, obviously a no go, and they shut down until May, so hopefully May is a good reset for both track and racing as a whole.
Still haven't dealt with the club situation Current slight change is considering staying as i am 1st claim, but local addition as 2nd claim. As bar racing in a local series in their vest, there doesn't seem any actual benefit in going 1st claim right now.
Pop back in next week for another change of mind though
Hope you went well SC2. SG = Sensible Guy 😆 Glad you’re improving. hat’s a very solid HM training time SQ. The spa & health club was my non-running mate’s idea. She’s a member & signed me in as a guest. It was very enjoyable for a change. 12 more on the Camel Trail & on up into Bodmin Thursday. The hill destroyed me & I was done by the time I was on the return.
Friday off running but did bike a sedate 26M: half on the relatively flat Camel Trail with the remainder considerably lumpier N.Cornish lanes. Must’ve been enough to freshen the legs for Saturday’s parkrun: Central Plymouth. Another lumpy one (240’) with 3 dead turns too. 21:44 for 28th of 404. Jumped straight in to barcode scanning after then had coffee & a bite to eat before finding a city Trig, then running another 11M to tick off the Plymouth stretch of the SWCP. Drove home after. Legs weren’t exactly fresh this morning so 8.8 on the local trails was plenty & bring up my biggest week since last May’s Ring o’Fire adventure: 68M
