Power Breathe for Asthma

A friend of mine has just been recommended to try Power Breathe by his doctor because he is not using his lungs properly. This is supposed to help his asthma. He is NOT a runner.

My understanding from previous discussions here is that no-one had used it for long enough to have found it effective. Does anyone have any further information on this device? Does it improve lung function in healthy people, in asthmatics? Does it work at all?

I've never seen it recommended or promoted for use in asthma or COPD. In fact, I've never seen PowerBreathe recommended or promoted by anyone apart from those who market it and those optimistic souls who have newly invested in one and desperately want to believe it's been money well spent.

I had one and used it before running to prevent exercise induced asthma and I found it helpful to open up the lungs.
