Martin!!! You are on our team - team two!! We've been trying to contact you. Come to the thread!! We'd like a photo if possible (email me and I'll email you back), your race number, approx time to Mile 17, what you'll be wearing and any special requests (though go sparing on that one!)
glad i checked the list more closely today. i have just seen that I have to make signs for my support group!
<trots off to plug in printer and keeps fingers crossed.>
megaphone didn't arrive. contacted ebay seller who apparently is out of the country due to a family emergency. i will just have to yell loudly and go to work on monday with no voice. should make my job as a PA interesting!
Had a great time at Muchute supporting. So many highlights - Oxy and Barley pelting Candy (I think it was) with Oranges, seeing Mick and Phil, actually managing to see a few of the people I was looking for. Not to sure about the two guys wearing Mankini's mind......
Thank you guys for the cheer and hugs today. I was a tad emotional when I got to you and you all realy cheered me up!! Perfect location, perfect handover of gels, perfect day.
Thanks so much to all - missed the Supporters 1 sign, but saw Nam and a couple of other names I recognised. Really kept me going knowing you were there if I needed a hug! I finished my first FLM!!! (and can't believe I've entered the ballot for next year!)
Tremendous thanks to everyone that came along to Mile 17, thank you to the runners to, it was so great to see you all.. There were so many exceptional moments ill refrain from mentioning any in particular. I loved all the hugs (sweaty or otherwise).
Had a great time at Chandos and got exceedinly drunk Nice to meet old friends and new.
Re the incident with the old git. He was just some random ignorrant man who thought it was fine to stand in front of us all (along with others) despite the fact that some of us had been there since 8.30am to reserve the spot. As some of the runners have stated they blocked us out and Groups 1 & 2 were missed.
I politely complained to a marshall (as well as all those in front of us) 3-4 times. For some reason though this guy just lost it and lashed out at me. It all calmed down pretty quickly, although I decided to walk away rather than my preferred approach of baiting him further till he snapped again (didnt want a fight to spoil our day)..
Some of were also discussing moving the support to the other side of the road next year as we maybe more visable of the other side of the bend. Dont think this will prevent the conjestion at the crossing but suggest we leave at lease 10 feet of fence before the numbered groups. Others thoughts appreciated.
I don't think it would have been so bad had it not been for the Red Lace peeps to pinch the end of the reiling.... leaving us with 8 groups and only two thirds of the normal space...
Maybe next year we can put some some laminated 'reserved for RW Forum" notes on that reiling to prevent anyone from setting up on it in the morning...
That explains a lot! This is the supporters group prior to their arrival
This is later on. Hash and I really struggled to support. We couldn't see easily. Once the rain had hit and we had soggy labels on our prepared bags it got even harder. Next year you need to be violent ?
I did think it was a RW group spilling over- hadn't realised it was others.
I thought of that Nam, usually I would try to get there earlier. Perhaps the supporters arriving first next year can put out a few chairs or cones and ribbin off the whole area with some 'Runners World Line do not cross' tape?
Would maybe be a good idea to get some supporters t-shirts and caps printed next year for everyone supporting...
Had a great day yesterday - shouting at all the runners was great fun especially with Sweetest Thing next to me and even with Kaz blowing a whistle down my ear
Good to see friends old and new and I got veryyyy drunk in the pub afterwards - I'm only just starting to feel normal again
