MF7 - have spent some time poring over the maps with the course description - there are a number of possibilities - unfortunately Extreme Running are not playing ball at the moment; do you want to join the bombard the organisers with emails and posts on each thread brigade - there are a number of us all eager to get sight of the definitive route.
Initial communication from the organisers indicated route would be out 2 months in advance.
Word on the grapevine also suggests we clash with the London 1/2 mara which starts from Blackheath albeit later in the day - but likely to be road closures effecting drop off and pit crews.
Mark - been thinking post L2B - not sure in all honesty I'm mentally (let alone physically) qualified to make the jump up to multi days events yet, particulary in the terrain we have been considering, but I have found an excellent training run in preparation for that leap - wee trip up north
OMG - it is stunning round there Bobo - we've had loads of hols staying in exactly that place - used to get breakfast rolls from Enochdu post office!!!!
Hi Peeps, this is CMF posting as her better half!!
Just had a marathon/half meeting - we need a lead bike so if there is a bikist out there (Chris Hoy????) who is free on 7 September we'd love to hear from you.
Tis me now. bo-bo I do understand your thoughts about next year and maybe a shorter soiree into "Highland running" would be a good stepping stone. AS CMF said we know the area quite well and have actually stayed at the Kirkmichael Hotel which is race HQ. I do recon it will be a tad hilly though as the spital of Glenshee is a ski resort in the winter
On the Thanet Mara front are you and PSC around that weekend ? Cliffy and I are planning to run from Ramsgate over to Margate and then do the mara as L2B training .
the hills are alive with the sound of bo-bo puffing - hills are great at mara+ distance, bona fide reason to walk! (well any distance really!) I have registered an interest with the RO....the acknowledgment email was by boomerang, it was spotted by PSC but no reaction ...think I'm ahead in the brownie points after last w/e mammoth Paris- Roubaix pit stop duty!
Sorry - but we are not around w/e of Thanet Mara - off camping with a bunch of yellow lycra nutters in Leicestershire; my LSR will be laps around the lake shouting encouragement as PSC takes part in another mass drowning AKA 1/2 IM
On hols at the moment - Margate, Ramsgate, back-gate! Running has taken a back seat - busy combining day-trips with getting Jnr ready for the off. We need to pencil in a L2B think-tank once Cliffy is back, mid Sep?
2 hrs off-road this morning at 5.30am - its amazing how palatable salted peanuts are at 6.15am
Good morning people, I am glad to hear that you are all in fine form on my return discussing such nonsense as name tags and running up Scottish mountains.
I enjoyed some memorable runs on my sejourn to the gallic lands, I also sampled some of their wonderful grape drink of the pink variety, and will now pay the price when I stand on the scales.
My legs are fit but my back is a serious cause for concern as it won't mend properly, any suggestions?
I agree with the idea of a meeting about the weekend out in Brighton, lets discuss the details. I am looking forward to going there, I have never been, but do I sense that there is more to this weekend away than I know about. I thought we were going for a stroll and then a bit of shopping and perhaps a bite to eat!!!!!
I too have never been to Brighton - its a bit of a family joke in this house; to visit/see certain sights I have to find a race! - so I'm definitely hoping to have the energy to enjoy the ambiance on the Sunday night .
I enjoyed some memorable runs on my sejourn to the gallic lands, cheat - you've been training!
