Just for fun, checked my 10k time using McMillan running calculator. Half marathon time of about three weeks ago, gives a 10k time of 46mins 6 secs. Bloody fast for me. All my training is for half marathons.
Just done 7.125 miles in 53mins 36secs. That works out at approx 47 min 10k. I'm in two minds to do the race. This is the first week of a 1hr 30 mins half schedule and on Sunday I should be jogging 13 miles. Could change it for a 10k race. What's your time Bob?
I am never able to replicate race pace over any distance in training. If you're the same you could be on for sub 45 on Sunday. You'll never know unless you give it a go!
Big field of runners, over 1500. Not a bad result. So you must be aiming for a time below 43 mins,or closer to 40 mins!
Only done two halves. The first was a lot slower than in training and looking back I did not do enough milage. The second race, I was training to do it under 1hr 40mins, not far away,in 1hr 42 mins 32secs. It was quicker than in training.
Done a warm up, then a brisk 3 miles and a cool down. It took 10 secs longer to do the 3 miles this week. If I'm going to do the race on Sunday I should really taper down. The schedule has a 6 mile run on Saturday. Will change that to a Friday and then make a decision on the race. Under 47 mins still looks achievable.
Completed my easy run this morning, should have taken 46 mins. Done 9km in 44mins 44secs. That's about 50mins for the 10k. Target for my first 10k is 47mins and will enter on the day.
Weather will be great.
What time do you think you will get round in Victoria?
hiya - you're speedy! I'm hoping for between 52 and 53 mins. It's only 2 weeks since the marathon though so really I'd be extremely happy with sub 54...
Hi Victoria, it took me a week to recover from a half. Never done a full, seems too far. After reading all the RW comments from those that took part in the London marathon I might do a full in a few years time. I like halves, but as this 10k race is my home town thought I'd give it a go.
Meet someone from my old works place who loves jogging. A bit older than me and was aiming for 50 mins. Came in around 55 mins. He did mention that I'll get hooked on jogging and not to go to quick at the start.
Aimed for 4mins 40 secs/kilometer to get under 47 mins. At the start, started just off the front runners. It was the only time we were on the road. First kilometer ran in 4 mins 22secs. Way too fast but had a guy from the CATS club running besides me. He was aiming for 48 mins. He had a stronger pace so let him pull me along. A few times had to dig deep to keep with him.
Splits. 1st 4mins 22secs, 2nd 4mins 26secs, 3rd 4mins 24secs, 4th 4mins 24secs, forgot the 5th split as I wanted to soak my head at the water station. So average 5th 4mins 32secs, 6th 4mins 32secs, 7th 4mins 32secs. The 8th kilometer marker was on the post the wrong side so clocked it after coming down the hill. So average for the 8th 4mins 36secs and the 9th 4mins 36secs.
The final kilometer, miss gauged the distance to the finish and pulled away from the CATS guy only to realise you need to go around a corner and run to the finish line. He had the strength to beat me.

They have 200 runners. You have an option of e-mailing the form and then paying on the day.
Pretty quick response to an e-mail from me.
Beat me to it again OR, I've just got the same response.
Bob
No, OR.
Is yours a recent photo?

Not expecting at time like that at all!
I'll be aiming for 45 mins, and hoping I come in under 45.39 !!

Looking outside it looks like the weather will be good, with a bit of wind.
Good luck.

Thanks Bob.
Now I'm going all out to do the Harlow 10 miles in July in under 70 mins. Before todays race thought I would be only able to do it in 75 mins.
Brilliant Bob, you came 9th and I came 7th. They have put a 2 instead of 7 in your time but I think the positions are correct.
