i'm getting quite excited now!!! can't sleep as I play the race through my mind... i'm knackered already!
Same here. I started laying out all the stuff I need for Sunday this afternoon and it's really brought it home what I'm doing on Sunday. People keep phoning me up and wishing me luck and it's getting serious now.
Moments of confidence coupled with moments of utterly bricking it......
Guys, can anyone who lives close to the event give some sort of update on what the weather is like there at the moment - just trying to understand if the course is likely to be dry of flooded!
Extreme downpour late last night, very windy and sunny today. Having run the course last weekend, i,m dont think flooding will be an issue, although previous competitors have warned that large unavoidable puddles can appear on the concrete sections during rain.
There is a short section which you run through twice each lap that is narrow and overgrown which made our feet wet due to the dew.
Dont know about you guys but i,m struggling to concentrate at work and think of anything else other than sunday.
Thanks Mark - I was there in 07 when it rained really hard - there were lots of very large puddles all over the course and the section you just mentioned....well, the tyre ruts either side of the track were full of water as was the section by Jellybaby Corner.
Signing off now so see you all Sunday - safe journey to the event and a peaceful night's sleep on Saturday (except UF who will be driving....mad bu88er!).
Lardarse - surely you've not been upsetting fellow forumites - put it down to taper madness.
I might have accidently upset someone! ...Yeah taper madness, people get on my wick wingeing...
I almost forgot about the 50 mile challenge on Sunday. Where is it again? Is there any hills?
Might see some of you tomorrow, though you won't know who i am!!! HaHa. Everyone else reading this, seriously, good luck on Sunday, i know i'm going to need it.
Good luck to all for Sunday. Hope you all enjoy it.
Can anyone find out if Mike intends putting this on next year as i always planned to do it again and finish it this time and I plan to do that next year.
I hope so Speedy be good to see you. There was a bit of a problem a couple of years ago when Mike lost lost his sponsors and was losing money on the Challenge, but I think that's sorted now. I'll let you know on Monday.
Lardarse - you can run (better than I can I'm sure) but you can't hide - PH knows who you are - until Sunday.
Hipps, hope the scrapes and bruises heal quickly. Really hated that stretch of track - tried my best to time my walk breaks to coincide with going along there.
well done to all who finished yesterday!!! and what a well run event (Thanks Mike!) awesome day and loved every second
Lap7 was the lap from hell for me... I so wanted to lay down in the grass verge on the backstraight (after the hill) and die...i shuffled forward though remebering what my coach said and held it together and actually managed to post my fastest lap time in lap 8. Amazing what a bit of Metallica blasting in the earphones can do for ones physic!! perhaps some of this extra energy came from the surrounding rocks and trees!! I was willing to believe anything at that point as long as it kept me going forward.
Hows the legs today people...? I went for a walk this morning to try and help stretch the muscles a little. stairs are far from easy but coping.

I may sleep in the car on Saturday night if the weather's as bad as it is at the mo!! Thunderstorms and tents don't go in my book!!
New garmin's great. Bit lighter but much less bulky. Just need to get the display how I want it.
