Mornin' all. Blue skies again. This will not last as some friends are coming over from the UK next week, so I am expecting gales and snow.

Mike S - We don't have nightfall over here, just dusk at 11.30 and daylight at 1.30 so does that mean I have to keep running all night?

Saw the sun set in the north (yes, and it rises in the north as well!) last night for the first time this year - beautiful sunset. Summer is here ...!

    Hi,

    what: nothing, resting the knee.

    Have a good day!

Hi Spud, sorry to hear that knee is taking so much time to get better. Have you got it good help?

What: Tried to do long slow run (12.5miles) but gave up after about 7 miles. I'm not surprised really, as I had been feeling tired and the last few days on the brink of seizing up. Wind was against me the first 6miles - it tracked me round the course! The last mile was lovely, but I had "lost" my left leg, and the thought of 4+ miles without it - I just lost heart. Wasn't sure the psychological boost of having finished no matter what would have compensated for the almost certain damage done had I continued.

Ok. I'll rest up a bit. Got to go to London tomorrow, rest/sail over the weekend, and then invite you lot to plan my training. See separate thread, and thanks in advance.

BR, what they say IS true (unless they're lying or believe it's true when it's not)

    Hope that's helpful!

Also, if you're race on Sunday is purely being used for training then I wouldn't hesitate about doing a speed session today or even on Friday morning. Where's your 10k and what are you hoping for?

    What: 4/5 miles recovery pace
    Why: easy day
    Last rest: 8 days ago

Hi Drew, it is the Beverley 10k. I had orginally entered for a crack at a pb before the Askern 10k, but I am not running well enough at the moment so would be happy with 35:30 to 36:00. I think I will try some short speedwork. Cheers

BTW, the government has fled into thin air.

    Hello Chaps,
What- ooh about 10/12 miles on the bike something like that, fell into conversation with another cyclist on his way to work which was nice. Then got home and dived out for a quick (except I wasn't) 3 mile run. Massage this afternoon and no allotment.

I seem to have done something to my shoulder I think it was when I was showing off in the gym doing chin-ups the digging yesterday prob. made it worse- seems a bit better this afternoon though.

Thanks for that BR. Forgot it was on! Probably do it myself as it's quite a fast course, apart for the climb half way round! Hoping for a similar time to you. Should be fun - how's your sprint finish???

    Evening all!
Well, what can I say. First club run since FLM last night. omigod it was hard! Either everyone else has suddenly speeded up or I have slowed down or I am still feeling the effects of the marathon. Mind you I don't suppose 2 days heavy digging in the garden helped!

Today: nothing! Except weeding which I can do sitting down ( and had to as my back is aching)
    Last hard: yesterday
    Last rest: all last week

Tomorrow trying Pilates for the first time

Mike thanks for the link, I get it now! Well sort of!!

BR-the government fleeing into thin air wouldn't be a such a loss! Good luck with the 10k!

And you Drew if you do it!

Laura, good luck tomorrow night. Hope you have a good race!

AWWW Spud, hope you have some luck with the specialist and the problem is easily sorted!

    Stickless-tomorrow's another day!

    Good training everyone.

Well I'm chuffed as I've officially completed my twice a day trainig! Will try and do this once a week, couldn't do much more just yet.

So my late afternoon session went:
3 miles warm-up run down to the track
    1600m in 6:33
    55 secs recovery
    800m in 3:08
65 secs recovery (decided I needed a bit longer to recover)
    400m in 83secs
    65 secs recovery
    400m in 86 secs
    65 secs recovery
800m in 3:15 (feeling it now!)
    65 secs recovery
    1600m in 6:38 (really hurting)
    400m recovery jog
4x100m sprints in 16.90, 16.51, 15.80, 15.83 all with 60 secs recovery (felt so sick after these I had to walk recovery for 400m round the track)

finished with 3 mile easy run home.
