I am doing this on 9th June for the 2nd time, even managed to get 4 work collegues to enter. Just wondered how many other forumites will be taking part.
I am coming down from Penicuik (near Edinburgh) with five mates including fellow forumite Gusher - now we are five!!
Did it last year & enjoyed the day out. It's going to be a bit rushed this year as we are getting the train back home after the race though I suppose that's a good incentive for a PB.
What are everbody's numbers, mine is 4833. With three or four thousand runners I don't suppose we'll see each other during the race but might bump into each other at the end (queing up for tripe & onions - not!!!). Hoping to do it in around 45 mins.
I am No 3997, hoping to try and break 40 min - did just under 42 last year. Interesting that there is only supposed to be 4000 runners, but they obviously have numbers upto 5000
Morpeth was way too early for me to tackle a half however two of my mates did do it.
Graham, an experienced marathonner used it as part of his training for the Paris Marathon and said that it was a great run despite the weather - it must of worked as he got a PB of 3.45.
Bill (non-marathonner), who is more like me, on the other hand found it tough going. Did you take part - if so how did you get on.
I did take part and ran in 1:41. I ran most of it with a bloke from up the Edinburgh area who was also doing London(as I did, 3.43). I loved the run. I've dropped out of the GNR this year because the Morpeth-Newcastle made me realise how much nicer it is to run in a smaller field.
I did Morpeth-Newcastle as well, really good event, managed a PB of 1:35. Did London as well, 3:47. Minni, I think you were on the sub 3:45 thread with me for that. We seem to be following each other around these races.
Howdy, my number is 393 for Blaydon. I've done the Morpeth for the last 7 or 8 years I think, the memory isn't what it was, and managed 1:32 this year. Also did London, in a PB of 3:14, hooray. It's amazing what a difference doing some training makes. I did Amsterdam last year in 3:54 and i never want to go through that sort of experience again.
London seems like ages ago now. I said I'd do it again next year but didn't enjoy it enough to do another one before then. However, I'm now tempted by the Loch Ness marathon in September...
It's nice to be doing some fun things like Blaydon again though.
Doing my second Blaydon. Last time went off far too quick and was eventually overtaken at Scotswood Bridge by someone in a kilt (no top) and a pair of Dr.Martens! Not sure of number but definitely +4000.

You're right Minni, I'd like to line up at the start without the bin bag this year
