I'm having a discussion on another board about the FMs (an american site) where they are just saying that the FMs are basically just a charitable organisation with some secret aspects to their gatherings. Other posters are saying basically they are evil to the core. I'd be interested in hearing the thoughts of you guys.....any thoughts?

they didn'tr used to take left footers ginge - so i would have nothing to do with them
however
i went to school with a girl who's parents were killed in a car crash
the mason's sorted them out with a house and paid all their bills, her older sister was in her early 20's and she was 11 when the accident happened
so if you are "in" you will be looked after by others
it's just that up until recently you had to be a wasp to be accepted
If anyone is ever in the North East there's a Masonic temple open to the public for tours at Beamish Museum... you get shown around by Masons (They wont shake your hand though)
Nothing sinister really, unless you consider that in several public organisations promotion once depended upon membership of a lodge... but you could say the same about golf or cricket clubs.
that's rugby clubs all over the country in my experience......
See the Simpsons Stonecutters episode for an idea of the true extent of their evil machinations.
Personally I think men who join the FM's are generally a bit "not right in the head".

i think less of them for wanting to join
I quite like the Freemasons. They've done some really good remixes of some fab tunes!

Very nice legs indeed.
Anyone want a pint.
social club or more sinister
...and if they had a running club I wonder what their club vest would look like..
If you think the freemasons are bad, you should really worry about the tufty club.
Don't know that much about them, but Freemason's Hall in London is well worth a visit:

The building is amazing (art deco), and they have a very good collection of all sorts of things in the museum (including a lot of embroidered aprons). A gift shop where you can get lots of things including a book of Freemasonary for Dummies (really). They also do tours of the temple but it was closed for a ceremony the day I visited. Keep meaning to go back.
Thanks for reminding me... I know some folks I was meant to be recomending things to do in London...
