I have no idea what it is like, just been pressganged into it by certain others
On a more serious note, I used to come last in races but still found everyone really supportive (runners, supporters and marshalls). My first half mara took me 2.50, I now have a PB around 2.04. come and join us!
yeah im gonna have a go be rude not to really since i live local, it would be nice to know the course so i could see if there are any cheeky hills to look forward to
The run starts outside the fire station, down the left hand side of the Woodford Valley and returning via the right hand side and finishes on the running track at the leisure centre. It's always a good mix of people and running abilities with amazing views.
Hi the train station is on the churchfield part of salisbury and its not to far to walk to the start which is opposite the fire station about 10 mins walk. out of the train station hang a left and follow road under by pass to come out opposite side of church cut through waitrose car park and straight out the other side of waitrose staff carpark and opposite it is the field where the race starts from. The leasure centre is just over a small wooden bridge where there are toilets/shower changing. hope thats enough info if not just ask.
well i did it and thought it was a really good run , just the right amount of hills to keep me interested and of course with it being my first 10 mile a pb
I think I might have just about got a PB too. The hills weren't as bad as I remembered them. I guess that it being warmer and less wet this year helped.
A lovely bright sunny day to jog round the quiet lanes of the Woodfords......difficult kit choices to be made....lot of people wearing too many layers after the first 2 miles ! I didn't get down to the running vest - so probably not putting in enough effort
May need to look at new shoes ( to Erin Dawes disgust " you've already got 5 pairs!" )....cramp going DOWN hill ? What's THAT about ?
Late again, no chance of a PB ( I have no idea what my best time is for this distance - I 'spose it'd be the same as the Great South ?) ...at least I manage to tie my shoe laces before the off this time - but still pinning my number on as I crossed the line....Tail End Charlie
Probably one of the most consistently scenic runs I've ever done...gotta love snowdrops in bloom.......well marshalled and FOUR water points, none of which appearred overstretched.....blurry cold day though.
Anyone know where the results can be found online ?
I did the race today (on the day entry) and enjoyed it, mainly as I was not going for a PB. There was only 2 noticable hills which weren't that long. I think I even managed a negative split even with the hills in the last half of the race.
Please can someone tell me that they saw the camel in the field behind the llamas. After about 7 or 8 miles. Nobody else seems to have seen it and everyone in my running club thinks I've gone mad!!! Which I suppose is entirely possible.......
Comment as a supporter at mile 5. The organisers needed more signs on surrounding roads saying that there was a race on. Some cars came up to the main road scarily fast. That bend in the road near mile 5 water station was a hazard and it was fortunate someone (man on the bike!) finally started to move the runners to the left of the road earlier onl.
There were a lot of 'roving' runners who couldn't decide what side to run on but there was also little guidance on this (unless it was via the inaudible megaphone at the start)
HD Your not mad, yes there is a camel with the Alpacas/Llamas, a couple of donkeys too. There is a public right of way that runs along the side of the field which is on the Little Durnford Estate where you can get a closer look!

I did this last year. I was told that is was hilly and was pleasently surprised at the lack of hills - more like undulating.
And then I started on the second half. That's where all the hills are.

well done Wayne.

The results are available here.
Mike Frog I think I was with you near the last few mile, I had a yellow pirate top on.
