Seems my trusty Asics Kayanos might not be the best thing for the Grizzly this weekend, and I need to finally splash out on some trail-ish shoes. I've always run in Asics and never had any problems, so am inclined to stay with the brand, but guess there might be a world of difference between on and off road shoes, or some off-road only specialist brands. Never usually go further off road than Richmond Park's yellow brick road, but maybe the Grizzly will be the start of a beautiful new excuse to buy stuff and be really crap at it.
Suggestions on a postcard ...

Innov-8 Flyroc 310, not too aggressive looking and a life saver over this snowy, wet winter.
Grizzly eh...now thats madness
I just dont know why I bother sometimes
And what's the verdict on mesh (light, leaks, but dries quickly) -v- goretex (keep dry in little puddles, but can't drain if it gets full of water)
not goretex
don't worry about your shoes, wear a pair that you can accept being ruined is my advice
I can't accept my shoes being ruined so I will either avoid all mud..........or run with Barley so he can carry me over the little muddy patches
I have just brought a pair simular to these in a sale, I shall be breaking them in at the Grizzly
Whats the old addage, all ways try something new on race day or have I got that the wrong way round
My shoes will not be new........I broke them them in for the beacons 45 miler
Thanks for all the advice guys & gals. Grabbed a pair of these bad boys, Asics Trabuco, although in black & orange (think jaffa) rather than regulation black and yella. That's my something new on race day item sorted
