Not that I yet have a decent MTB to do it on, but anyone else fancy a quick spin down the Downs Link in the next couple of months? Not too long or strenuous for most of us. Thinking either ride down Saturday and camp over at a family friendly B&B pub/hotel to meet up with the families, or ride down and train back in a day.
According to the Route linky thing, "The Downs Link footpath and bridleway links the North Downs Way at St Martha’s Hill, Surrey with the South Downs Way near Steyning, West Sussex and on via the Coastal Link to Shoreham-by-Sea. Most of the 59 kilometre (37 mile) trail follows former railway lines."
Marvellous....who's in, and for what option ? Given a starters list we can argue about when

I'd be up for this though probably not until VLM tapir time or after. Done it several times starting at Cranliegh so no idea what the route's like from St Martha's Hill to Cranleigh but from Cranleigh onwards tis pretty easy riding - southwards at least - even for a carp pedallist like me Even on the way back there's only one slightly challenging little incline.

I agree with Trogs, very doable from Cranleigh on a round trip with lunch in the middle. Plus good parking at Cranleigh right on the route. I will wheel out the baby one the way excuse so it will depend on timing and what the little blighter turns out to be like.

As this goes past the in-laws back gate I'd be up for borrowing dad-in-law's bike and joining in from there for an abbreviated version of the route.

I'm thinking of running this in the summer so a recce on a bike would be a good idea.

Not really scary, just more inevitable once the wheels locked and I continued moving.
Unfortunately I can't join you to demonstrate as I have a prior appointment in Brighton that day.
Oooooo I am definitely coming for a cuddle then M.ister.................
edited to put in....with Little Miss W of course.
I also have a prior arrangement in brighton that day. Its a shame would definately join you on this otherwise
Looks the the ride/lunch/ride option with an ice cream at Southwater is the most popular format, so let's go with that. Democracy is a wonderful thing when it agrees with me
April 10th works for Meldy but she's fast becoming Mrs Buckers, with the repeated no shows, and it clashes with Brighton Marathon and Barley's sportive on the same day. It's also the start of school holidays for my lot, so Mrs K may have cunning plans that don't include me bogging off on a Pirate bike ride. So avoiding the 19th, and most of the school hols, the options (that suit me!) are:

Get your name down, let's try and set a date by mid next week so those that need to can apply to their respectives TPOs for leave passes

Hello, hadn't seen the updates. We will definitely be going on Sunday 1st May starting at Cranleigh and will stop for lunch (and a pint) in Shoreham.
