I've entered the above and it will be my first Ultra. Has anyone done it previously that could advise if it's better to wear road shoes or trail shoes. As the route has a mixture of both I'm unsure.
Not knowing the race or the area it's very difficult to advise but I'm a fan of my brooks Asr 7s, enough cushioning for the road sections but plenty of grip for proper off road trails
Im also doing it this year for the first time as a mixture of walking/running - trail shoes would be my absolute choice as the terrain is very rough underfoot in parts. Ive been holidaying here for years and have walked almost all of the route at various times - so although there are a few sections on the road the off road parts will definately require something more hardy than trainers!

I've not been over the route yet, but plan to walk it over a couple of days before the midges appear, when I'm down hillwalking.
