i'll second that snoop.what's the verdict on cygan?-i think he'll be ok given a bit of time to get used to the english game-thought he was v unlucky to get the second yellow last night-esp given stanic's elbowing.but not vv confident that the defence will cope with young ruud in the sort of form he's in. but not many doubts about the keane/viera battle, and sol was magnificent.thought chelsea were poor though-jimmy was so inaacurate and Terry was emphatically NOT tony adams in disguise,or he wouldn't have let that third go anywhere near the goal... but a key test of stamina and morale passed. all we need now is for robert pires and freddie to hit a scoring streak...
Hi BK - been keeping a low profile eh? Don't blame you though, given the Blues record against the Gunners over the last few years.
It has to be said that 'on their day', the Arse achieve football quality seldom ever seen in Northern Europe, even with half the reserves playing.
I don't know what the answer in the Champions League - clearly, we are totally dominant at home, but ordinary in Europe - it happens each year. But, doing the double each year is some compensation.
something in the theory that in europe the defences are generally better drilled and less vulnerable to pacy counterattacks than domestics-not many man cities i'm afraid.and they don't commit forward in the same way...and they have managers with a clue and are generally champions in the first place for some reason...man u seem to have been a bit better at keeping possession and adapting tactics this year though i think they had a slightly easier group.but thierry had it right when he said that this team has a few more years in it yet,so we have a good shout next year. in fact i can't see many areas where too much change is needed-i expect parlour to want to get more regular first team footy, and with jermaine pennant ready to step up i wouldn't be surprised to see him go.pires and viera must be essential new contracts and taylor was looking the part last night, don't know where we are with the brazilian goalie.perhaps a solid replacement for stepanovs/upson/luhzny to stand by in case cygan doesn't make it as a permanent keown replacement-don't know much about the greek fellow..and i guess dennis won't last forever... happy days...
oh hello Barkes - (another person who wished they had chosen to support a side that could win trophies). Thanks for dropping in - couldn't care a tinker's about cards of any colour - silver's the only one that counts, and two more are coming our way.
Alex - you are indeed the Jimmy Hill of the forum.
I'll discuss this with you after the season is over; for the moment however, I'm enjoying too much the likes of Scum and the Pensioners being turned over in their own backyard by a team which can afford to rest the most potent attacking force in the country, and still win by a clear margin.
And one final note - if there were ever an incentive to get under 4 hrs in the FLM, the semi final kick-off is at 1.30 p.m., when I would normally be the Embankment.
