I'm still enjoying 2005, and it's in the final week before the run. Just read a lovely (typically sloppy) post from someone worried about missing everyone after the race reports had been typed and read.

Surely thats me? (Not that I ever get emotional, or anything!)
Here's a lovely blast from the past, given what happened last Sunday.
"XL - congratulations on those fantastic times, I'd be blowing my own trumpet too, if I could run that fast. Please tell me it's because you are 7 foot! I can only run 10.5/11 min miles but I'm only 5 foot with really little legs (my excuse and I'm sticking to it!) "
the author of those words beat my best GNR time quite convincingly this year.
One of my own here; I had forgotten this story. Are you stil tehre, pengwyn. Do you remember this ?
"Sometime last year my training partner and I went out for a five mile run at the coast. We were just a few minutes into our run when a chap, obviously still suffering from the excesses of the previous night, shouted/slurred after us,'You'll have a heart attack. You'll be dead before you're forty' My friend ran the ensuing 5 miles with a lighter step and a huge grin - she was 43 at the time :0) "
" do people go round Newcastle's Quayside on the Sunday evening? I have visions of me, knackered but basking in the glow of having just ran a half-marathon, sipping wine in one of Newcastle's many bars, done up to the 9s with my badge round my neck. "
Just read that Shielsy was supposed to do 2005 with a friend, who pulled out very late. Did your friend ever get back into running, Shilesy? I can't remember you ever talking about running or training with a friend.
I've no clue if aformentioned friend ever got back into running - he met a girl who he went on to marry and she decided that she didn't much like us being close friends so his email correspondence to me dwindled, he never suggested we meet up for drinks/lunch in Town any more, until eventually I just thought 'You know what, sod it!' and unfriended him on FB because quite frankly by that point we weren't friends any more. It was sad but one of those things. My only regret is that I wasn't able to get let him know when I'd done the London Marathon last year, as he was always banging on about how he wanted to do it.

My neighbour says that to me every time he spots me out setting out for a run - a cigarette hanging from his mouth. He means it in jest and I just laugh (at him).
Are you lot trying to beat that 5000 posts by Christmas?!
I *think* I joined in 2006. But it could have been 2007... Not sure! I certainly don't have time to go through the old threads to find out though - peak training week here!
Fiona - I hope I didn't give you my cold. I really shouldn't have been contagious by Sunday, I'd already had it a week, but if I did I'm so, so sorry.

+2 for Shielsy, although if it had been the other way round I might have said CC2!!

It could equally well be you, Mandie, I reckon!
Prize to mr sj
You were right with Shielsy, pengwyn, but sj nailed both parts of the answer
I reckon mr sj cheated! He's been reading all the old threads!

Yes, Mandie. That one was you.

Belated congratulations on your new job, mr sj! When do you start? (and sorry I doubted your honour!)
Oh, I'm having fun here. Shlelsy again, in 2005

I do remember that, XL.
Seems a forumite called Donovan Sausage responded to Shielsy's post and mentioned The Slug and Lettuce
Good luck! I am sure you will enjoy it! But, be warned, you will soon be like me and need early nights on work days. Off to bed now - goodnight!
'Badge'?
Evening all
Ha ha
