last hard day: last Fri, but possibly Tue last rest day: Fri
subsequently on to Caldy CC for 2nd XI v Orrell Red Triangle - last cricket match of the season. And racing again tomorrow... Blessings to Mrs S for her tolerance.....
Yes good luck all racers tomorrow, I hope you all get good times and have great races!
What:5 miles easy Why:race tomorrow Last hard:speed wise would've been 1/2m last Sun, but for mental endurance and pain it would've been Wed. Last rest:Thurs and Fri
Lots going on today for everyone, good luck all with your races and good luck WW with your TRI.
What: 5 Miles Easy Why: Schedule Says so.
Last rest: 8 Days ago Last Hard: Tuesdays Speed Session Last long: Sunday 31st August.
Only six weeks to go until the dublin marathon, having trouble finding a suitable half marathon for next sunday to put into my training might just have to run 13.1 mile time trial.
What: 5M easy jog round perimeter of Wollaton Park Why: Gently trying to ease back into the running after a bit of an injury-induced absence. Last hard run: ha ha ha...ha ha ;-) Last rest day: Yesterday
For all of you doing Robin Hood 1/2M and full marathons I can verify that the mile markers are already painted on the road, at least at 7, 8 and 9M. Hope to give you all a cheer as you pass.
Very best of luck to everyone racing this weekend.
Nothing for me today c/o Robin Hood 1/2M tomorrow. Good luck to all you guys tackling races this w-e especially those doing the full marathons. I hope the weather isn't quite so warm tomorrow.
What: nowt Why: trying to shake off my muscle problem, tried running through it but no luck, so im trying boring, boring RICE Last hard: Tuesday. Exhausting. Last rest: Hah! ive got rest coming out of my bl**dy ears.
Just caught up - Stickless, if your son hasn't yet sorted out his accomodation, there is a lovely campsite at Holme Pierrpoint (spelling?), about 3 miles from the start of the race. Assuming he is a camping type!
What: 30k on bike in fericious winds. Finished the cirucit in one hour and 43 secs - next time I will drop under one hour.... Run later, 5 miles ish fast, then a swim. Phew! Why: Arresting decline into Waynetta Slobdom
Actually, today was really funny - it was my town's annual half mara and I didn't do it (been feeling a bit jaded, sore and under the weather of late) - felt like a kid bunking off school as I cycled past the back markers at 45 kph. Still glad I didn't do it - horrible, flat, windswept course and everyone looked miserable. Especially the woman who beat me last year in the last kilometre. Oh dear, I really shouldn't have such evil thoughts.....
What: 18 miles, in 4hr 20 ish. I had been getting really scared about doing another long run, so I just did it.
I ran from Cambridge to St. Ives, almost all of it along footpaths. The day had not started brilliantly, feeling sick and still jet-lagged, so I stuck to run4/walk1, rather than 5/1 as I had planned, but I got round, and was even still run/walking at the end (as opposed to walk/walking.) Ok, I took two short breaks but I managed always to get going again, in spite of cramps.
Footing was mostly good. I got a bit tired of dusty farm tracks, and one stretch along a flood bank was crisscrossed with huge deep cracks due to the drought, some hidden by long grass, but I escaped falling down them. No real map reading errors either.
As I said, seriously chuffed.
If I can do two more of these picnic runs before Abingdon I'll consider I've done about all I can to train for it.
Racers all, run well. I've told Will to go say hi to you all at Nottingham, and sent him off with the list of names and numbers.
WW, have a good tri! I'm sad to miss mine this year, but I'm away that weekend.
