This looks like a course you could easily do a negative split on. There's an evil hill at mile 1. Then it's pretty much downhill till about mile 6 and Russell St, which isn't that bad really. Then it's pretty well flat for the rest of the way.

Whitley is the roughest part of Reading, but the support was great there last year.

I reckon the chances of getting a PB are pretty good.

Right then I have tried to "cut n paste" and am waiting to have my profile checked!!!

I don't have a digital camera but will see if I can get my ugly mug photographed by someone else and I will update my profile.

Myself and 'V' are booked into the aforementioned Holiday Inn, which is just off Junction 11 on the M4. It's close to the start, but is on the edge of an industrial estate. The options for meeting up the night before for pasta/pizzza or similar are limited to say the least.

The Renaissance Hotel on the Oxford Road has a special rate for half marathon runners (around £65 I think) and it's offering shuttle services to the start and back. It's also right in the centre of town, hence far more options for the night before. Seriously thinking about it......

My first posting. Thought I might enter the reading half but am put off by some runners who were disappointed by organisation last year. I haven't gone through the whole thread but I'm a newcomer to racing and would like to know if it is worth it. Ran Windsor half this year and it was fab.

Lindyhopper this race is well worth doing even if it does have a few organisational problems. As you can see from the list of forumites running the race there is a wide range of expected times so you can find somebody to run with if necessary.
