Groin Strain Recovery

I've been out of running for about 3 or 4 weeks now with a groin strain. Have been to the physio and back there again next week. My question is how will I know when I'm ready to start running again? Should there be no pain / tenderness at all or is it normal to have mild pain or twinges when getting back into running (due to lack of exercise or from all the stretches I've been doing)
