I'm going to give it a go. I won't be breaking any course records, though.
Is there a course map anywhere online for this race?
Is the course the same as last year? If so and anybody is interested here's my Garmin record from last years run. And I didn't break any records either.
I won't be running this year as I'm doing the Kent Roadrunner Marathon on 1st June
Thanks Fat Matt I can see it, I realise there is plenty of time still and I'm just a bit eager .
Gary Fatbloke thanks for the link, looks like a challenge, just what I like!
I signed up for this some time back, but now as it creeps closer I'm beginning to wonder if it's a good idea! Did the Warwick HM last week in ~1:45 and that was about the hilliest run I've ever done at only about 150m total elevation.
The "big hill" in Gary's garmin plot looks pretty scary. Can't imagine coping with that if it's either a hot or wet day!
Oh well, it's going to be "hill reps 'r' us" for the foreseeable I think.

It's good to be eager Sharon, you need to be for this race! Thanks for the link Gary, you still could make it, you'll have 3 weeks to recover and you would have a few miles under your belt, so you would have done most of the training for it! : )
Ha ha Matt, you've got me thinking now! You're right in that I would have all the necessary training and will be better prepared than last year. I was thinking of maybe volunteering to marshall if I didn't run.
I quite fancy this, it's local to me - what'sthe terrain like?
It's mainly fields and country paths, have a look here,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2bFpKey-jg for a short video from the 2009 race. It will give you a good idea.
Nice video Gary, bit of Orbital always goes down well too . I'm signing up!
Looks a good run And the results from last year suggests that I probably would not be the last to finish. So I'll sign up.
I'm in, first ever race at this distance, any recommend a decent training plan?
What are the chances of on the day entry ?
Would be coming from work so dont want to enter on line just incase couple of hours turns into a full shift
Does anyone know anyone who would want to buy an entry from me? (willing to discount).
I have to go away for a work trip so I can't do it anymore I dont want to take up a space and I've been told by the race director I can inform them of a change. I have already recieved the race pack but can send this on. Let me know
Fionahog, I would be interested in buying your place, if still available?
I'm doing this, wondering if anybody knows what shoes are best? If it stays dry I am thinking my flats will be ok?
hi all btw!!
I'm doing this too, I keep having slight anxiety dreams about doing it. Looking forward to it but a bit nervous
still can't make up my mind what shoes to wear, anyone have any ideas?
Oh Wabo I am so nervous...eeek!!
Yes not sure about shoes, I might wear my trusty roadies, which I am planning to replace soon, but might take off road ones too just in case.
What do you think?
well the terrain sounds all different but I have read road shoes are ok. The only thing will be how much rain between now and then? Like you though my battered old slipper/roadies are my favourite choice. Bring them both I guess. I know I should be nervous, think I am not thinking too much about it!
Wabo the north downs are bone dry at the moment so roadies will be the shoe of choice. We would have to have some serious rain to warrant any sort of grippy trail shoe.
Anyone know how many people have entered? Is it worth turning up on the day for entry?
I'm there on Sunday and looking forward to it.
Website says race is full.
Oh well. Nevermind.
Have a good race everyone..
Yep, " strictly NO on the day entries" would offer you mine, as by no means ready, but I've not miss a race I entered yet regardless of performanc potential, and this is gonna be a biggy
cant wait im not ready but my head is bring it on yippee
Ha I'm no where near ready either, but I am looking forward to it, should be a great run (walk)! See you on Sunday!
