  • Asda Smartprice noodles used to be 8p. They're now 11p. Bloomin' inflation!

  • My mum bought her house in the early 70s for about 5000.

Mine cost 150000 and it's smaller! What a con.

And what about the cost of Jacobs crackers?  By the sounds of it this could be a dealbreaker for her!

  • You think that's bad?  Bath Olivers are £2.19!  image

That's because only 12% of prescriptions are paid for, Karen.  We're paying for all those people who get them for free.

  • Yes that really drives me nuts  - why not lower the charge but make more people pay - even if it's at a reduced rate?

  • Compared to the actual cost of the drug being dispensed, the prescription charge is likely to be, in most cases, a small fraction of this.

I look at the prescription charge as a contribution towards the cost of the drug.  In other words, I am paying a little for something that costs a lot more.

On the other hand, paying over a pound for Jacobs cream crackers.....that just makes me fume.

  • cream crackers are a staple no person should be without.  It makes my angry that they hike the costs up.  Its the same with some biscuits.  why they dont hike up costs on fruit and veg, stuff that we can do without

  • Pudge - Most of our shops sell primarily daffodils  and leeks - but you can generally find Jacob's Cream Crackers with a bit of effort.

  • How much for a dragon RW?
  • I think dragons follow you home if you leave a trail of garibaldi crumbs
  • Tempting as that is Dave, I'd need a heck of a lot of biscuits to leave a trail from Wales to Merseyside. If they're anywhere near as expensive as Jacobs cream crackers then it's a no go. Unless Aldi do a cheaper equivalent?
  • Wrexham to Brombrough isn't far ?
  • It is when measured in biscuit miles.
  • You're sounding as cheap as Karen !
  • Just being prudent with the pennies in these times of austerity.

I might want a dragon, but I'm not prepared to spend a fortune on getting one.
  • How many meals would I get out of a dragon?  I'm not prepared to spend more than £1 on a meal at the moment, so is it cost effective?

    This made me laugh image

  • on a similar topic...how expensive are cigarettes?

I doubt there are many smokers on here, i personally quit 8 years ago now, when i quit, 20 cigs cost me £3.09 i know this because i have the last packet still, with 1 left in it, price is on the box. the same brand now is £7.79 for 20...how does anyone afford it?

  • A £ for a meal? Do you only eat one meal a day?
