Unflavoured Soy Protein Isolate Powder

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to buy some unflavoured pure soy protein isolate powder that I could mix with my isotonic sports drink for drinking in the latter stages of my long runs?

I am after soy protein in particular (rather than whey, casein, etc) because it produces less ammonia in the body when used whilst exercising.

I also need an unflavoured product with no thickeners because I want to add it my isotonic sports drink, and I need it to be palatable and very easily digestible whilst running.

I would be very grateful for any ideas as I have scoured the net to no avail...

It is 90% Protein Powder made from peas.

Not so far removed from soya beans!

and presumably peas wont make you grow manboobs, unlike soya

but does pea protein contain all the essential amino acids??

Andy - I imagine that the processing used to produce the protein powder removes any hormonal-type substances from the product. Loads of body builders use soy protein, and I don't think they are the type to be going for the man-breast look...

I have managed to track down one suitable looking product: Tekno Fuel Protein Supplement

I have sent them an email just to check it is unflavoured and doesn't contain anything other than just soy protein. I will post up their response when I get it.

Another possibility I thought of was adding some of Science in Sport's Strawberry flavour Rego (which contains carbs plus soy protein isolate) to my lemon or orange isotonic cabohydrate sports drink in order to get the right carbs to protein ratio - I'm just not too sure what it will taste like...

What bothers me far more is all the artificial sweeteners in these products. Hard to stay aspartame-free...

Surely natural has nothing in it in the way of sweeteners. Certainly my Nutrisport whey protein isolate is just that, no additives at all. As is the Davida Soya Protein shown above in my earlier posting.

In one of the articles I read it suggested a 7:1 carbs:protein ratio for use during sport and a 4:1 ratio for recovery drink.

Am I probably correct in assuming that these ratios are for weight-of-carbs : weight-of-protein? Or are they more likely to be for calories-from-carbs : calories-from-protein?

Thanks Ceal. From experience, if it is an American site then I think you're a lot more likely to get an reply than if it is a British site. They seem to take customer relations a bit more seriously over there...
