Is it just me or are you tired of people who are trying to validate their opinions by bogus user-name titles. DR Dan, sw Coach, Six Physio, I am a doctor. If I go see a professional in his field I expect to see a certificate on the wall or some sort of security of who they are. Any fool can say hi I'm Fred the nutritionist. The people who I respect are people who talk sense now and in the past and not some kind of Internet "Dr" Gillian McKeith. If you want to use your credentials on this site then post a link to some proof who you are. I hope people aren't taken in by these charlatans.
Comments
as its an internet forum you would be an idiot to respect someones opinions more just because they have given themselves a title....unless you know them then I would think everyone would just read their comments the same as anyone elses and then make up their mind over time who they trust the most
I would take quite a lot of stuff on here with a large pinch of salt.
Sincerely,
The Rt.Hon Penelope Screamapillar, OBE, CBE, DFC and bar.
The guy testerday who called himeself SWcoach and the asked for a schedule to get him under 20 mins for 5k. It's a bit like going onto a computer forum and calling yourself an expert and then asking how do you send an email.
I could call myself a coach. A coach could be someone who has been on a half day course. Frankly I've learned more from years of running, reading and even talking on forums like this than I ever did from any courses I've been on.
Didn't spot Fat Buddha when he was marshalling at the Beachy Head marathon. Maybe I was looking for a guy in orange PJs.
this fat buddha bloke has no capitalised words - you've been looking for the wrong fella.....
I often mistake you for Homer Simpson's wife. Yes that's right. I can't tell Marg from buddha.
Just to introduce myself, Hi I'm Reece the Doctor..
*groan*
Sorry Reece, that was x post. *groan* aimed at SR!
No need to apoligise..
Maybe he meant "coach"as in "charabanc"
Pretending that you are something that you aren't is rife, it's known as 'walting' in the Army (after Walter Mitty) and usually involves pretending to be in the SAS or Marines. Why you would pretend to be a coach is beyond me, though. At least make yourself a doctor or professor of running studies!
Then there was the time that someone on here was pretending that they WEREN'T the person that they really were, after they were threatened with being reported to their sports company employer!
Anyway, I have to get back to my patients now.
that took me a while to get.must be time for my afternoon nap here in the retirement home
Personally it makes me laugh, and then I ignore what they have to say...sub conscious BS spotting I guess!
Same for coaches, I would rather learn from someone with knowledge than time to take a course! I have taken courses...I am not an expert in everything I have taken a course in.
Speak for yourself. I am currently an expert in Fire Safety and also Harnessing the Power of Microsoft Word. Two mornings out of my life that I will never get back.
I mean, anyone calling themselves 6physio. How bad is business that you want to come on an internet forum and give away your alleged wisdom for free.
I'm sure DF3 would approve if he was still around though
Fair comment. Do you think DF3 was after a job in a "Catch me if you Can" way?
Probably
🙂
Post that display: constant sceptic negativity, frequent egoism, expressions of superiority, sexism, occasional paranoia, together with the use of an alter ego (until it got banned) suggest the need for expert help, whether you resoect them or not.
I really am a Morris dancer...
Surely you should NEVER take advice from an internet forum as anything more than some anonymous Joe on the internet.
I am very keen for people not to know what I do or what I am qualified to comment on. This is because if I offered advice as a - - I would not offer it whilst sitting at home watching tv with a glass of something in hand.
I would never offer advice that I did not think was correct and generally offer links to an appropriate website; but do not warrant that I am infallible or expect others to be..
But a pretentious screen name Hmmm......
