Made CP4 100 miles, very sore feet and the heavy pack made a previous injury to left shoulder undbearble to wear the pack towards the end.

    CP's were well maned.

Over all a great event. If I were to run it again there are def a few changes to kit I'd make. One being a more cushioned shoe.

Was great to meet up and run with a great bunch of runners.

What's the secret to being successful on this, then?

Don't underestimate it. Unless you're fast and strong it's going to take longer than 2.5 days.

The route gets rougher under foot and harder to navigate the further you get from London (although I don't know how much of that was the sleep deprivation...).

Practice run/walking with your full pack.

Make sure that you're comfortable with basic navigation (it's not just a case of following the signposts...).

Look after your feet and learn how to treat blisters if/when you get them.

Dave, I think I came into CP4 with you (me being a CP volunteer)

Well done, we all think 101 miles was great going.

Hi always trying are you Mary ? I'm sure thats what you said your name was ( 38 hours of no sleep causing confusion)  if so,  yes you escorted me in to CP4 thank you.

101 miles felt alot further that day.

But will be back next year to go the whole way.

    Dave.

Top tip from this one from me would be to train with full weight in the pack.  I did all my long runs with the backpack on.  You don't need to fill it with the exact contents you'll have on race day, I carted round firewood, empty bottles, phonebook, any old ballast I could find to weigh me down.  You just cannot underestimate the difference that a full pack has on your lower legs.

It was a phenomenal race and easily the best medal I've ever received.  The brutal nature of this race meant that finishing was all the more sweet.

Well done to everyone that ran and a special thanks to my new best friend Richard "Bubblewraphead" Hurdle!!
