Hi All.
I have been short listed from 2600 entrants down to 50, I attended Birmingham Bootcamp, where they then chose 20 finalist, its all down to votes now to run the 26.2 Paris Marathon for Asics. Most votes wins. Only 1 person from each category will get through, so 5 finalist.
Please vote for myself Cheryl Chaney by clicking on the below link, clicking sub 4.30 & my picture Cheryl Chaney. This would mean the world to me.
Thank you for all your help xx

Hi Cheryl.congratulations.
so what kind of poster will you be if we vote for you........you have posted twice on the forum before and got help.why didn't you feel that you wanted to be a regular poster.....
Pertinent questions Seren, pertinent questions...
I would be posting regularly to keep everyone up to date with my progress & updates. My plan info etc. xx
I have been running since Jan 31st 2013 from when I started I was 2 stone heavier & unfit. I feel I have come along way since I started within myself not just running. I have gained confidence within myself, gained a decent fitness level, and I have gained lots of new friends through the running community.
but didn't answer my questions
If I'm honest I haven't used this site before bar trying to get a race number for a half marathon. Not knowing what to use it for. Hope this clarifies it. I also have a large community of running friends, coaches etc so any help or assistance I have gone to them .
All I'm asking is, if people took 2 minutes out of their time at the moment to read my story and if they can then vote.
It would mean a great deal to me .

Cheryl well done on the weight loss and getting fit. I agree running is great for helping with confidence and a great way to meet new friends.
You've not been running long - why do you want to run a marathon so soon and which marathon will you run if you don't get through to Paris? What do you think the Asics experience can give you that your current running friends and coaches can't, especially when they've advised you well in the past?
Hi Thank you. I have completed one marathon in October, but didn't complete it great as I didn't prepare properly for it. I love running, preferably long distance not short 5k they don't do anything for me i'm afraid. If I don't get in then maybe Liverpool Rock n Roll. I believe that if I get through then Asics can help me keep on track with the correct plan, keep me motivated during the cold weathers that are fastly approaching, & support and guidance along the way. I have learnt si much already just from the boot camp experience, so I believe to be in their capable hands until April I can learn a great deal more. I am very excited at the prospect of it, and the thought that my kids (boys) could potentially come & watch me at the finish line would be amaing too, as they love to do kids fun runs too x
I'm with you on the 5ks but you gotta learn to tolerate that kind of stuff if you want to reach your potential in the marathon.
Good luck!
CC -- Perhaps you could share with us what you learnt from the boot camp experience... That might encourage us to vote
I feel your determination Cheryl! I hear that a good 5k is just as important in training for a marathon. Good luck
Boot camp experience was a great day. a long day with my 3 hour trek there then back but I loved being part of it. Whether I get through to the final 5 or not. It was nice to be acknowledge to that stage. we got to speak to the worlds 2nd fastest marathon runner Marra, and ask questions regarding, distance, training, nutrition, she was lovely and answered everything we all asked in our category's. Learnt a few things about nutrition and how we should be eating before a race during and drinking etc. she also let us into her secret that Pro plus works for her. ha. We had a nice physio 1 hour talk about typical injuries, what common and what's not, how to treat certain ones, and how to stretch in different areas when training, I knew the basics but she showed us others I weren't aware of, we ran on the track, in which I have never done before learning what times we should be pacing ourselves at for our long runs and then what pace we should be doing for the actual race day. We completed a speed session on track 400 m fast pace then 100m gentle plod and so completing 5k. Think we cover about 9.5 miles after warm up and cool downs etc. Got to meet lots of new people who each all have their own running journey, its nice to hear why everyone else runs, and the benefits for the. I run to be me, to feel me again as u can imagine having 3 young boys under 6, working full time and studying a full time degree its easy to feel isolated from the real world from time to time. Running clears my head and puts me back on the sanity level
I do 5k, esp when I don't have time to fit a longer run, I also take my own running group to complete 5k, but my love for running is long distance so half marathon to a marathon is mine. I love that feeling that self accomplished feeling to say I've just ran it
Yes you're right Slowkoala, GB 2nd fastest. She's really lovely!
I'm going to decide who to vote for by asking one question and the person with the best answer gets it.
What's you favourite Star Wars character ??
Hi Cheryl, wow you've done a lot of races in 9months of running!! which was your favourite and why?
I run similar times to you, so will be interested to follow the winner of the sub 4.30. I am running VLM next April. I struggle with 5ks too, I feel I'm just warming up when its time to finish!!
my favourite was my first half marathon. A well organised race, lovely crowed for support and a great route flattish with the odd hill thrown in, I think ur first anything is a great race but I love longer distances and really enjoyed Chester x
haha erm sorry I don't watch star wars :-/
