I was up the top of the run course last week its hard packed. Unless we have a lot of rain just before the race, any decent run shoe will be OK. No need for trail shoes, just something with a bit of grip.
Oh and there are places available. Entries close this weekend so last call for what may be the last Pontypool based race.
Exciting plans being made for next year. New base, new run course, lets see how the bike course fits in. Just dont expect it to get any easier
weather looks windy and wet for this tomorrow,............now thats a surprise.......
The organisers of this event can never go the whole way and organise the weather.....everything else they get spot on.......not sure why they haven't put the same effort into the weather choice than they do the rest of the event
Seren, I think the plan for the weather is, sunny for the time out on the bike and run and the wind has been booked so that it'll behind us (no sniggers) on Oak Lane and the Bristish .
Good to meet fellow shipmates today. Batty Hattie, Pingu, Seren sorry I didn't see you after but I looked my keys inside my car and had to get RAC out. Not what you need after 4hr Tri. Never mind all sorted.
at least you didn't take them into the pool with you and then to let them slip from your pocket to the floor of the pool......good job i spotted them as I would never of thought of checking there when i went to look for them after the race
Great race yesterday, weather was (relatively) kind to us, too. A sheep nearly got me on the Blorenge. Vicious things. Nice to see you again Pingu and Seren, timebikes sorry we didn't get to say Hi. Sounds like a new run course at least next year.
Great to see the Pirates out in force yesterday. IronScribe they'll never let you be a Pirate if you get terrorised by sheep! Something for one of your books perhaps.
Timebike, I was the idiot up & down transition all day, did give you a shout. Its Blorens for the Welsh, I believe & The British is named after The British Iron Company foundry that stood at the bottom of that climb many years ago.
Still cant get over Serens episode with the car keys. The conversation you had with your fellow swimmer in transition was funny. About what idiot would drop car keys in a pool, Oh they look like mine. Oh they are mine !
Really enjoyed working with the Y Fenni Tri club crew, think we are handing on the race into a safe pair of hands. They did exceptionally well considering none had race crew experience prior to yesterday. it was a steep learning curve but they more than coped with it. Dont think I've finished with the race yet either. Lets see what discussions lead to over the next few months. Should be interesting.

I'd recommend trail shoes, there's a bit of a run along hardpacked canal towpath, but the rest is rocky and potentially muddy.
I will wait for the weather...I'm still thinking road shoes as i find them more comfortable.......
after avoiding trails for a couple of years i am on the look out for some new trail shoes.....
will probably decide on the day.but looking at the rain we have had this week and forecast it will probably be trail shoes......
I'd go with road shoes too I think unless the weathers really horrid. There's almost a mile of path and pavement before the canal section.

yes...........is it opposite day today.........the wind is so cold and blustery at the moment.....not looking forward to riding in soaking wet tri kit
Think the weather was, although really quite bad, nowhere near as bad as yesterday, phew! Good pirates turnout

Hey Pingu ,Seren what was the name of the 1st big Climb Yesterday?

i think the mountain you climb is the blorenge

'it was a steep learning curve'
Everything about this race is steep. Even the swim was uphill into a headwind.
Slugs, I agree, Y Fenni and the marshals did a wonderful job, as did the more experienced race organisers
Yep another cracker of a race, well done all from Rhondda Tri
