Hi everyone. I have been sent along to join your group by SuperCaz - is that okay? I was running last year and managed to completely miss all the Runners World lot, but will try harder this time! I don't require anything to be handed to me (it would be a risky strategy anyway in case I miss you again) just a great big cheer/kick up the backside. What other info do you need? I am aiming for 3:45-4:00.
I know how easy it is to miss the supporting point, I've done it myself once. There are so many groups of people lining the route, and my mind just shuts down by the time I'm at mile 17. (It's even harder for us to spot runners in the crowd.)
Don't think I will need anything handing out, just a kick up the are. I will be wearing a red vest like in my profile with DT on front bottom right and back. I'm aiming for 3.10 so if all goes to plan should be with you about 1hr 53-55.
I will be wearing a black, red and white vest with 'Caroline' on the front. Sorry to sound clueless, but where exactly will you be, just so I can look out for you?
Outside Mudchute DLR station, on the Right hand side of the road.
So the course comes gently down Westferry road, then turns 90 degrees left at what appears to be a café called the "fire brigade station", into East ferry road. And then after 0.2 miles you come to where we are. We are behind the railings on the right at this zebra crossing
Insist on leaving it with them, and tell them that the people manning the cheering point on the marathon will be collecting it from them. They don't need to do anything except keep it safe. It needs to be labelled with your forum name so we know which group it belongs to.
The other thing to remember is that people hand stuff in for the fetch cheerpoint at the RW stand - so you need to make it clear which cheerpoint is yours! I normally put gels into one of those sealable plastic envelopes and write all the details VERY LARGE!
all ok here - taking daily beroccas to try and ward off any further lurgy before Sunday!!
MikeFrog hoping to be at the station at approx. 13.00 hrs. I will be wearing my Royton Road Runners vest...(this is printed on the front). its white green and yellow...not sure if I have anything to leave you for me to collect...just some support will do thanx
I tried to contact RW about us leaving stuff at their stand but I never got a response.
Mr Frog is right that every year then deny all knowledge because they usually have people on their stands that haven't done it before. Insist on leaving stuff there and you will be fine
I believe that Fetch no longer use Expo as a centre point for their runners. Last year they asked their runners to donate cash and went out and bought stuff for them instead. The down side of this is that I don't want to be responsible for not being able to get hold of someones favourite gel which is why I prefer people to give their own items
Hello, I am leaving goodies for fetchpoint as well as RW. I have packaged up my drink and gel and put them in large envelope together with some JB'S for the pot and a donation. Will be leaving them on Friday.
I get this weird feeling with RW that they think the web is some kind of passing craze, and real ink and paper journalism is the future ... so they kind of don't take their online support group very seriously ...
When I said tell them this happens every year, I didn't actually mean the not knowing, I just meant the cheering point and us leaving supplies at the Expo and collecting them.
@MadWelshWoman make sure your two parcels are clearly labelled then, we don't want the fetchies taking our JBs
I wonder whether it is a liability issue. If they acknowledge that we are using their facilities then does that make them accountable if something goes missing? Just a thought
left some labelled gels and a contribution to funds at the desk last night... The gels are insurance in case I manage to drop some along the way - if I run past then they can be given out to other runners....
just a note on parking at excel - they've made it very hard to not pay the flat £15 for 24 hours rate. apparently you can get a £5 for 2 hour rate but after 10 minutes fiddling with the machine I gave up......
I have collected a bunch of stuff from the RW stand at Expo, including yours Gladrags, but I wasn't able to take it all. There is a separate box for Fetchie stuff. I also met Ben RW while I was there.
Hi Mike, did you get Redhead's blue plastic bag? She's a bit worried as she's trying for a Guinesss record for non stop crocheting en route and has left some emergency balls of wool in case she hasn't enough.

evening all... back from a week of skiing with no broken bones () but also a few extra pounds () - too much cake and beer.....
I love joining the cheering point as something to aim for - mile 17 is the middle of a lull for me and it's always a big lift to have a cheer!
will leave a little something at the expo for all you lovely supporters
I'm still in, just lost track on a few threads!!

I think it's just before mile 17.
and it's just after a water station....
feel like I ran the marathon in my sleep last night - crazy dreams...
Great, thanks. See you there!
Hi there, last year no one on the rw stall knew what I was talking about when I asked about leaving stuff, what do I need to do?
thanks

Hello all
I have left stuff at the RW stand several times with no problem, although I didn't do VLM last year!
Hope everyone is okay? I still have a cough and injuries but nevertheless quite excited now

Hello all, left my stuff yesterday, trying to rest as much as possible today!
Hope you are all having a good day, looking forward to seeing group 4 at mud chute

Yes I did
