The chip butties are for the marshals and people manning the bike feed station, which is why people compete one day and marshal the other, there are usually sausage and bacon butties at the finish for all

Grew up in Leeds and it's worked before...even during heavy petting the 'ladies' never drop a chip, or any scraps either for that matter. Classy lasses!

Chip butties are also used to test Seren's ability to perform an emergency stop on the bike

p.s. she CAN indeed perform emergency stops welll

Ah yeah, read on an earlier post people stay at a premier inn where they eat. Do youknow which pool we use? is it on the outskirts of Macclesfield? And what's the bike route like? Quiet country roads? Sorry about the 20 questions lol, I was looking on Google maps earlier at the surrounding area and I'm none the wiser lol.
