warm and sunny yesterday - 25 degrees - clouds come in during the afternoon with the odd shower
cloudy today - so the hippos are unhappy - however nice biking weather so letting the chorros digest then its the first half of the IM bike route
Hopefully getting all the pre-race hiccups out of the way now.
Got bike box out yesterday to check it fits in car of friend who's kindly taking me to the airport on Wednesday; it does, phew. Tried to open it and couldn't. One of the combination lock dials is jammed so lock would release. Much swearing followed by gentle application of crow bar and I got the box open but now it either wont close properly again or closes and need crow bar to open it again. Fortunately my lovely LBS has a box I can hire for a fairly reasonable rate so that's sorted.
This morning I had a little sprint tri. Switched on Garmin and it promptly froze on the start up screen and, despite pressing all imaginably combination of buttons, I couldn't clear it. No biggie, just a bit annoying. Had a good swim, then 1 mile into the bike I picked up a piece of glass in my rear tyre so wasted about 14mins sorting that. All good practice I suppose and better today than next week.
Fingers crossed that's my 3 episodes of 'bad luck' sorted
Bike had its annual clean and is now packed.
I also found my garmin lurking at the bottom of a draw, powered it up and the last time I used it was in last years IM Mallorca... so at least I managed to get last years run splits as a reference (the battery only lasts 6 hours now!) -
Bike is on its way, being shipped with Nirvana. That means I have a bike box to borrow if you want, Trogs. Packing the wetsuit but suspect I won't be needing it.
Quick question on the EIX - can you hire pool/ beach towels there?
Many thanks Dave. I was out at my lovely LBS hiring one of theirs when you posted. Benefits of being a regular customer meant they gave me a good deal. It's now all packed up and ready to go - except for the need to open and check that assorted bits (tri bars/skewers/bottles etc) are in there several times between now and Tuesday evening.
Does anyone have any saltstick caps going spare that I could nick off you? wanting to try something new on race day, but they won't be delivered before I head off on wednesday.
I don't have Saltstick caps, but have got some high five zero tabs you're welcome to if you like?

yes - you can hire beach / pool towels p no idea how much as I've not sat on thje beach / or the pool yet.....
